O.K , so we've had a disappointing 2 years or so and there's frustration and exasperation about that. But this message board is being used as a cessplt of distorted and sick negativity by some , maybe a lot , of people. The Oatcake fanzine has been such a positive force for Stoke fans since its creation in far darker days than these and I think often this messageboard isnt worthy of its name. Well said. It is highly corrosive. I think perhaps - for the greater good - it is time to consider closing it down. So very sad. I remember buying the very first edition of the magazine and it was such a force for good. It was a major factor in the upswing in interest in the club when we were getting sub 10,000 crowds. How times change. We always had a small number of miserable buggers but they were easily marginalised. Unfortunately social media gives these twats a status they never had before. I have more sympathy for the younger generation who just follow popular culture and know no better. Remember the old song boys......”we’ll support you ever more”. Can’t imagine those sentiments nowadays. What’s corrosive is not talking about the sheer ineptitude of our owners.

Well, we only have to wait a couple of days to see what Rowett is made of, or rather what he can make of the titanic of a team he’s inherited. It’s a safe bet that Brentford will come out with tanks and howitzers blazing away. I wonder what his plan is going to be?

Mind you, there’s some on here who will be moaning about the moaners if we’re holding the league up by November. Probably the same ones who keep wanting to give Berahino “one more chance”. Reality is hard for some.

You are slightly above most of the regulars and oscillate between fair points and total shite. This is firmly in the total shite category though. We are absolutely streets ahead of where we were when they bought the club back from the Icelandics. Hopefully they can withstand a group of extremists undermining the foundations. And don’t even think about being selective with your response and taking two or three seasons out of context.

To be fair this is actually a perfect answer to the OP - this is a cesspit because some people are deliberately using it to bad mouth the club at every opportunity in order to to orchestrate some sort of revolution because they actually believe the club would be better run if they had their way - despite the fact that it isn't badly run and our "saviours" haven't got a clue. I know this may come as a shock - but you're not the Messiah, you're just a very naughty boy.

We haven’t got two idiots in charge of transfers. We haven’t been chastised by the Chairman for being concerned about the club and then actually those concerns were right. We’re fantastically run to the point where we don’t have a massively unbalanced squad, the manager is on board with how we do transfers, the team is as organised as the mob and people know how they can stream the game that’s going to happen in less than 48 hours. It doesn’t need a revolution. It needed kick up the backside and sacking one man and getting fresh modern ideas in. That didn’t happen and nothing has changed. We’re being left behind. But heck, who cares?

Well said my friend, I've been supporting Stoke for 42 years mainly through thin and thinner. I look forward to every game no matter what.i would love to take some of these fuckers on here back to the, Alan ball, chic bates Chris kamara, Brian Little period. Could you imagine what it would of been like if this board existed then.people these days are "precious, fragile little things", it fucking winds me up. Case In point my own son of 23,well educated great job, acts like a pre pubescent fucking teenager after every, defeat. After the Leeds game, "we are wank, I'm never going again, sack Rowett etc etc", as much as I love him, he wound me up that much I put the fucking phone down on him and told him I will go on my own in future. Its my club and I will go and enjoy it even if we dropped out of the fucking league!! COYMP Ive been on the terraces at Exeter pleading with Mick Kennedy to put a cross onto Noel Blakes head to try and salvage us a point in front of less than 2000 people in the stadium. Bury on a cold Tuesday night with less than a 500 of us. Oldham on a cold Wednesday night when your fingers are blue and your voice hoarse from trying to motivate a bunch of untalented players worth less than a million quid between them. The open terraces at Blackpool when it was pissing down all afternoon and you were soaked even before a ball was kicked. Sub 10K crowds at The Vic for a league game and being able to hear the players shouts from the back of The Boothen. Being genuinely scared for my well being at Birmingham that day when they came at us. These are the really painful days you have to go through..... just to be able to say I was there when we beat Notts County in 79, the 2 Mickey Mouse Cup final wins, 5 nil drubbing of Bolton at Wembley, Ending Leeds long unbeaten run at the Vic, Tony Kelly nutmegging Bruce Grobbelaar in the last minute at Liverpool in a league Cup match to take a draw back to The Vic. Todays fan doesn't know real hardship watching SCFC and lucky you I say but give me those memories above all day long over the sterile Premier league of today. Would I swap those memories for the success enjoyed by the Manchester's, Chelseas & Liverpools. Would I fuck as like! Excellent post! That is maybe the problem. Things have become moribund. Those little successes were really celebrated with proper mentals! When was the last time we celebrated like Notts County, Kelly's goal at Liverpool, autoglass, play off wins, beating a big team. There's a certain sense of entitlement that has crept into our support. But the reality is, even when we're in the Premiershit, there was nowhere to go. (fuck you Leicester! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif) ) We have no aspirations other than a cup run. We used to go on about glory hunters only being glory hunters because they can have success to identify with in their sad little lives! If being a Stoke fan is you hoping you can identify with success, 150 years will tell you it's not the club for you! Don't take this place seriously, it's the internet, innit! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

So from the end of last season when we were relegated we responded by sacking last in line Lambert, had the lessons have been learned ! and promises from our board of change for the better both Scholes and Cartwright both escaped the sack. We appointed Rowett who allegedly turned us down in January, signed an unknown quantity African player, took weeks to bring in a backroom team, signed a player to score goals who is now injured plus selling our top goal scorer and best provider for peanuts, sold a young prospect to Huddersfield for peanuts, sold a solid proven back up keeper for peanuts and brought in a cheap inferior keeper. Signed a winger who apparently works hard but can not cross, can not take a man on or score goals split the support for good measure and signed Tom Ince for a staggering £10 million. Pre season was a continuation in style and results to last season unable to create or score goals meanwhile conceding at will, no shape no commitment no fight or quality in any area of the pitch, we still have Darren Fletcher playing regularly, our defence looked completely shot so we strengthen the CB position by signing a 34 year old has been on loan as cover/competition. The season kicks off at Leeds, we are completely outplayed in every department and could well have lost five or six, we create very little our attack looks as toothless as a 90 year old witch, our midfield looks clueless and disjointed our defence and goalkeeper capitulate faster than an Italian tank regiment. Today we spend upwards of £6 million on yet another midfielder who get this is fucking injured. We still have all the deadwood Wimper apart hanging around the building stinking the fucking place out bleeding the club try and the best of all SCHOLES & CARTWRIGHT still have their jobs. Should we be positive about this season of course we should just ask the happy clappers.

With respect I think this post is wrong . Fans spend a lot of time and money a d emotion supporting the team and we have declined from winning at Liverpool for the first time on my 57 years into what looks an average championship side in just over two years.
People who are paid a lot of money have bought some of.the worst characters I have seen pull on Stoke shirt since my first game in 1968 so in my view.we have every right to be angry .
I honestly struggle to remember the last time I enjoyed watching us play .
When we play well mist people here praise the team.
The current anger is down to being promised change and lessons learned but then getting another shambles of an effort last week.
Once the people at Stoke perform fans will as always get behind them. Even if they lose as long as they give their all .

I think some don't understand that we have dropped down to the championship and are no longer as attractive as we used to be. We've made some good signings, and we have time to gel and have a memorable season. GOOOARN! Some didn't even know the Championship existed. Some are PC fantasy managers and actually believe the crap they come out with.
