Opinions! I thought he kept running up blind alleys, he never drove for the box or picked out an intelligent end pass. He was however head and shoulders above Ince who looked totally confused and totally ill prepared for his role on the right and to supply Adobe Unhappy as I am the wake up call is briliant for everyone, this league is a real battle and we looked what we are, an ex premier league side that have got to adjust. It will happen, I have no doubt we will learn to battle and that reputations dont mean anything. We will learn that you can tackle and be robust and the refs arent hoodwinked so easily. Come on everyone we have got to support like we used to and enjoy he ride! I'm sure we will win more games than we lose! Why do you think that this game was a 'wake up call'? We have recruited a manager who is supposedly experienced in this league,so why is a wake up call? Tactically were fucking shite. Todays display was embarrassing. Wonder if we are still favourites for promotion after that inept pile of shit ?

Plenty of effort but decision making and end product were shocking. Which sums up his career to date. Well worth 6 million knicker and a 4 year deal.

I think I read that he has a great engine, gives his all but lacks skill when it matters, that it was “our” Tony that said it, says it all. Ah well, he’s a nailed on starter every week. Sigh.

Personally I’d play him as defensive midfielder - meaning he gets stuck in brakes up play and can lay it off to another player. The ‘laying it off to another player’ is where the plan is flawed though.
Decisions decisions heh....

Absolutely fucking wank with the other 10 starters. I’ve not seen it back yet but that chance 1st half summed him up and my feelings when we signed him. 3 assists in 3 years!! I could see why. He was wank.

Agree wholeheartedly but we’re stuck with him now. Never saw the point in signing him in the first place if I’m honest. He’s just not a very good footballer but what can you do ?

James will be our main man. Gives 100% if only we had team mates with the same work ethic

His performance was just as expected, worked hard was committed but ultimately didn't, and is unlikely to, add any goals or any assists. His career stats back that theory up. Why GR has such a hard on for him is baffling except that Rowett likes hard workers. But in a 433 with no creativity in midfield you simply have to have something better in the front 3.

Well I just got slaughtered on another thread for saying he struck me as a poor mans Johnny Walters (in the immediate aftermath admittedly) but based on today's performance we need more than working haaaaarrrrrrddddd - which I don't dispute he did especially in later stages - the jury is out but I think the money could have been better spent - we shall see and if he turns out to be a revelation and / or consistently worthy of his place then I will happily eat humble pie by the bucket load......

A very poor mans jon Walters!!! He has never been able to or never will be able to lace Walters boots. The bloke doesn’t score and doesn’t create. He as a great engine but so does my car!! When we signed him I said we needed better and after todays pathetic performance it’s still clear as day.

Not going into the debate again he is a hypocrite and detests Britain and I never wanted him anywhere near our club.
But we stuck with him and what we saw today is what we going get every game hard work fair enough but absolutely fuck all creativity or goal threat.
433 and he one of the 3 attackers it's laughable.

It seems his performance on a football field divides opinion as much as his politics off the field.
Successful execution of the task in hand depends on both competence and commitment. You won't find both in many footballers outside of the Prem. which is why they are there.
Personally I will always respect a trier, who is short on ability, more than a gifted player that can't be bothered.

A winger that doesn’t shoot there and then fucks the pass up deserves nothing but criticism whoever they are.

Looked a bang average second division player - industrious but rarely threatened to beat the fullback.
Not shit but a touch disappointing since we're supposed to be aiming fot promotion not mid table.

I would give him 7 out of 10 for effort - which is about 10 marks higher than any other player on the pitch.
Only player that gave a shite sadly

Yep - still 6/4-2/1 favourites for promotion Leeds seem good value at 3/1-7/2. Back 'em 'til yer nose bleeds They'll do well this year from what I've seen

Aahh, Stokies love a grafter - doesnt matter if you play like you lost all your toes in an industrial accident as long as you work aaaard!
Is it just me who thought he could have tried harder to head that corner they scored from as well? What was the point of him being there if he isn't clearing them?

....showed any sort of desire and commitment to the cause. Should have done better when 2 on 1 but other than that I thought he put himself about and didn't flinch in any challenge. You're not allowed to say that on here. All he does is "run about" Showed more desire in 90 minutes than any bastard who pulled a shirt on for us in the last 18 months - but....
