Just been trawling through some old threads and saw rogerjonesisgod hasn't posted since May 2020. RJIG's last post was with bathstoke who went AWOL (banned?) about a month later. Did these 2 run off together? I seem to remember Rog was banned as well. He's still very much alive and kicking though.

I see Crappy is posting comments about Afghan refugees on the Sentinel website. Made me all nostalgic😉 I saw that. There was a story about some mither in Normacot too, I was hoping to see Momo make an appearance but no such luck. Doesn't he live that way?

Think Mo is Dresden but it’s spitting distance to “The Cot”😉

Anyway, Auntie George has been missing for yonks. Did he say he was soon going to be spending some months in the States? With relatives over there, I think? Mind you, when he posted that (which I'm sure he did) I think it must have been pre-pandemic, so maybe he went over there and then when all the Covid stuff hit he had to stay over there. Great poster, was Auntie George. You're so kind, Murph. It is indeed nice to be missed by the ladies. I hope you are in rude health. I've missed you all. Yes, it's been an eventful 24 months or so. I took early retirement in March 2020 just as the pandemic was taking off. We had previously bought a house in the small town of Dandridge, Tennessee, where we intended to spend the summers whilst still keeping our house in Trentham. My wife has relatives dotted around the state, as you rightly say, and we know the area very well from prior visits. The house needed quite a bit of work doing - new windows, flooring, plumbing, electrics, driveway etc - a lot of modernisation. Well, when COVID hit the area (in April 2020) we struggled to get people to come out, some of whom had been booked in advance. The price of timber increased 300% in the space of a few months. Labour costs had risen 30-40%. Other materials were hard to come by, especially copper the cost of which had also risen by 300%, though most things were still easy to obtain. What should have taken 3-4 months took 10. Another big problem was that a lot of the flight routes disappeared and some have still not been reinstated. Then you needed a negative COVID test result before boarding the aircraft, and once back in the UK a test performed on days 2 and 8. How the world has changed. We hope to return in April or May and stay for 5-6 months. But I'm glad to be back home going to see my beloved Potters at the Bet365 once more. Prior to COVID I had missed only half a dozen home matches since 1977! I hope you and everyone else is keeping ok.

Take care.

Good to see you back Auntie - sounds like a real renovation job over in the States ! Murph's been missing since last September with no sign of her at all. I deleted my deesidestokie account last year after becoming really depressed (broke my heel, wife had a couple of serious health scares, death in family from covid etc etc all in a couple of months) but decided to rejoin as I still lurked on here but found it frustrating not to be able to contribute. Couldn't re-use deesidestokie, hence deeside2 as Felonious says, although I don't post as much as I used to. Anyway welcome back !

I looked for your profile and was disappointed not to find it. I'm glad you have risen like a phoenix out of the darkness. So sorry to learn of your depression and family health issues. It takes courage to talk about them. Life has been hard for many of us. Four people we know have died of this horrible virus, including two of my wife's relatives. We both had COVID last July, the Delta variant. It wiped us out for 2-3 weeks. Horrible. I hope we can have some discussions again like we used to. Keep strong and keep on posting!
