He wasn't on the bench last night but it looks like he travelled with the squad judging by the gallary on the Stoke website. www.stokecityfc.com/news/gallery-derby-countyGood experience, glad NJ is bringing these players into the fold, we just need to get them onto the pitch now! Would have liked Verlinden to replace Ince last night.

Only seen him play the once against Vale but in my opinion he was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch.
Got bullied a bit by Pope but that would have been a great learning curve for him. Other than that, marshalled well, defended well, brought the ball out well and made some great runs and passes.

Think Collins will be a top player for us, that’s if we can hold onto him.

That is so wrong. It's ok for Batth, perhaps for Ryan although he's just barely holding on, but a loanee like Williams shouldn't block the path into the team for a talented Collins.

To be fair, Collins is only 17. And while he's here, the ego of the Welsh international captain who hasn't been disastrous at all when he's played, is going to have to be managed. And how many 17-year-olds have featured in the Championship this season? The main takeaway from the comments is surely the positive that Jones thinks Collins has got a real chance and that he could well be involved pretty soon - which is really something for a 17-year-old defender at this level. Centre-halves are usually ones that are really protected, with a big premium put on experience, so if he was to make a breakthrough, that would be huge. I can't remember the last 17-year-old centre-half that broke through and played regularly at a level like this Still hard to see anything imminent with Souttar presumably ahead of him though?

I suspect that BMI may be off in the summer along with Williams which will then leave Souttar and Collins as cover. I also think that Collins may be ahead of Souttar given his age and reports of his form and character.

Would be great to have a selection of Batth, Shawcross, BMI (or new experienced CB), Souttar and Collins. If Collins or Souttar could break through next season then it will help replace the senior players when they retire or get sold. It's really promising to hear so much about the youth, the biggest positive of the season for me. It now finally feels like they are being considered properly.

Williams' fellow Welshman, Ampadu made his debut in the national team at 17. He's stalling though at Chelsea. Matthijs de Ligt played in the Champions League at 17 for Ajax. He's not stalling in the slightest. I quite liked Williams as a midfield anchor, but as a defender he hasn't been good for us. When Jones started he said something about not wanting to build his team with loan players. So why wasn't Williams sent packing with Martina... I actually fear that his contract may be extended at the end of the season.

If BMI goes, Soutter before him and he is on very low wages or a pay as you play contract for a year then id say yes he is ok for cover

The season is over,Verlinden and Collins should be starting, for no other reason than we have nothing to lose and everything to gain by giving them proper game experience

You know this for sure because...? Its reported everywhere even the Stoke website and the Everton website that its a loan It has always been a loan. Never any doubt about that. Question is whether or not Jones will extend the loan for next season or even give him a full contract. Because otherwise it doesn't make sense to use him as Jones is the using his selections to build a team for next season. If he's not planning on using him next season then return him to Everton and pick Collins instead, if only for the bench, but always with a chance to come on for Shawcross, or replace him for a midweek game.

Don't suppose he'll make the bench (unless Shawcross is out), but he does seem to be in the shake-up now and is travelling with the squad a fair bit

Sentinel says Shawcross is struggling. Jones hasn't risked players with injuries so far.

I would have Collins on the bench every game now ahead of Williams - he is our player, one for the future, earning rave reviews. Williams is not going to be here in a few weeks' time.
Is he better playing u-23s? Dunno, but the odd 10/15 minutes of action with the big boys this season can do him no harm in preparing him for the future. Along with Sorensen, Verlinden, Campbell and even Souttar, we have a good bunch of kids to add to Edwards in being realistic first team players of the future.

We lost Shawcross on Saturday and Williams like him or not came in and showed experience hanging onto the lead and keeping us steady. A 17 year old coming on to try and mark the experience of someone like Danny Graham is asking to lose the lead. We may not have much to play for but managers are judged on results and his duty to finish as high as possible. Plenty of time to bring youngsters in when he feels they're good enough

If he’s good enough he’s good enough and it also helps that we don’t have a lot to play for this season

Seems to me he is being managed carefully by someone who works with him every day

I do think he's been managed correctly though. Will play at some point before the end of the season you'd have thought.
