According to Spinks, it seems as though it was Lambert who forced the issue of his future today, which leads me to think that the board aren't very far down the line in their search for a successor.

Wish him well in the future, didn't have much to work with in all honesty. I said he would only be here to the end of the season the day he was appointed. Cheap contract to pay up. Come on Stoke let's have someone decent.. Anyone seen Harry at the bet365 today ?

Thanks for nowt Paul best news all week. You go with knowing you're the worst manager I have ever seen at Stoke well done. To be honest, I'm not convinced he's aware of your personal feelings towards him. True.

Honest question, why do people actually think Moyes is a good choice? Anyone could have kept West Ham up with the amount of money they spent in the Summer and January and even then he nearly f*cked it up. Look at his time at United, Sunderland and Sociedad in Spain. His style of management worked with Everton but he failed to evolve with the times and has been left behind massively. Appointing a dinosaur like him will only see us get even more stuck-in-the-mud. During his time at Socieded he apparently lived out of a hotel during all his time there and didn't try to learn the language. That was a bit worrying. No point in trying to learn the language with his fucking accent.....

Scholes: "Hey Lambo, just been reading the Oatie and it seems Franklin doesn't rate you.. like not at all. In fact, he thinks you're the worst manager in the clubs history. What do you think of that?"
Lambert: "I'll get me coat".

Feel sorry for Lambert who seems a genuine bloke and had an almost impossible task. If nothing else he’s started to push out the bad eggs and will have made it clear to the board which players have been taking the piss and need moving out. It was te right decision for him to go though. Let’s hope our next appointment is the right one. A flicker of sanity in a forum of madness and my thoughts exactly. Don't feel any animosity towards Paul Lambert, I suspect the job was a poisoned chalice. Given the circumstances of the past 5 months the task would have tested anyone who stepped in and most would have fell short in the end. No doubt it's for the best if we go our separate ways now, so good luck to both Paul Lambert and SCFC. We're going to need lots of it. It's interesting to read John Percy's report on events. Looks like Paul Lambert was having to deal with off - field problems right up to the end. www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/05/18/stoke-paul-lambert-part-ways-following-premier-league-relegation/

I think Moyes was hiding in plain sight after United. He could hardly have refused to be Fergie's anointed successor but it was beyond him. Sociedad was an escape dressed up as a challenge. Sunderland was a case of yet another manager thinking he could resuscitate a sleeping giant. With us comes the prospect of almost starting again with a Board that will give him time. I'd much prefer him to Sam who just seems a bit miserable these days. It was never going to be the same for him after the England debacle. Now watch us bring in McCarthy
