Yet Danny Murphy says he’s one of the best managers he’s ever worked under. Danny Murphy is a total wierdo though mate.. but before you do, there's no point even disgusting savage's opinion on Hughes either. Its irrelevant. Barton says it how it is. You're a fool. Remind me of Barton's career record as a player and manager compared to Mark Hughes. We're now taking the likes of Joey Barton's word as a character and ability judge!!!

He's never had the bollocks to put himself forward for any jobs that's why. He'd rather sit in the comfort of the Talk Sport studio with fat head Brazil and chat shit about what jolly the went to at the weekend.....

I heard that. Joey is a mardarse thug who hates Hughes for personal reasons but I think he is right about one thing, the more opportunity Hughes gets to put his stamp on a side the worse they eventually become. I think Southampton will stay up, he certainly has initial respect from players for the player he was and Eddie is a good coach so they’ll probably get a decent lift out of what isn’t a bottom three squad. Three windows in I predict they’ll be ready to throw him in the Solent. PL Managers have shelf lives, three years is more than enough in my opinion. Stoke like to keep theirs forever, like it's some kind of fucked up badge of honour.

Joey Barton- while he may be right in his opinion of Hughes, one of the issues the country has is that complete arsewipes like him are actually allowed oxygen.

But again in Schwarzer's views you could argue are clouded by Hughes' refusal to let him make his dream move to Arsenal.....

Joey Barton. A man who thinks Moussa Dembele is twice the player Paul Pogba is and should take his place in the French national team.
Moussa Dembele with 70 Belgium caps that is.

Funny how he said the same crap 3 years ago and he was universally rounded on here. I'm not a huge fan of Mark Hughes did to the state of our piss poor season, however I am totally convinced that bigger things are at play here, and that Mark Hughes was hung out to dry. Barton is and always has been a prick, so I will not he as quick as some on here to rip a man to pieces.

I don’t need to have a word at all🙄Hughes for me is not a likeable bloke because of his miserable boring demeanour but he produced some of the best football my team has played for years until he completely fucked up and as a consequence we will be relegated. For that reason I now don’t give a flying fuck what the miserable cunt does but what I do know is he’ll get nothing but vitriol from me when he steps back to manage against us at the Bet 365.

Joey Barton talking from experience: "Mark Hughes is a shocking manager, he has no people skills, he is abysmal" Not half as abysmal as that pugnacious little aresole!

He also slagged Neil Warnock off, compared him to Mike Bassett and said he was a crap manager.
This is the same Neil Warnock working miracles at Cardiff this season amongst other jobs that he has succeeded in.
The guys a fraud, tried to reinvent himself as some kind of pseudo intellectual philosopher and when the whole world pointed and laughed at him he just resorted back to the being the prick that he was. If he wasn't an average Premier League footballer he'd be doing 20 years in Strangeways....

Paul Pogba certainly isn't the man people think he is! based on what I've seen him do he isn't worth £30M let alone over £100

Hughes has pissed me off for ages, but I find Barton truly obnoxious. How he has a job at all is beyond me, with the things he has done.
He's also controversial for the sake of it. He proved how intellectualy limited he is when he appeared on Question Time.
I struggle to take anything he says seriously.

The abysmal bit is personal opinion but the ' no people skills ' statement by Barton has also been intimidated by the likes of Mark Shwarzer........ the way Hughes came across in interviews leads me to believe it to be true. He will not be remembered with any fondness by me after what he did over the last year or two........ I'm sure he isn't losing any sleep about that though

I'm sure he isn't losing any sleep about that though Schwarzer saw his arse with Hughes because he was desperate for a dream move to Arsenal and he wouldn't budge in selling him. Not saying he's wrong in what he said just that he may have a clouded view. The facts as I know it are that season at Fulham they finished 8th. He also brought Moussa Dembele into the Premier League for a cool £5m which is a damn good bargain it has to be said.....

Barton has an agenda against Hughes. Hughes clearly isn’t an abysmal manager. He isn’t a brilliant one either. Boring isn’t it, when the answer’s somewhere in between? Waaaaay too sensible for this board! 100% correct though

If Joey Barton told me it was raining outside I'd still go and check for myself.
Apart from Barton, who clearly has an axe to grind, how many other players that played under Hughes are making similar claims? Based on what I've seen the majority of players liked playing under Hughes.
Hughes wouldn't have survived as long as he did at Stoke if he was 'abysmal'. The Stoke players would have lost respect for him and downed tools in order to get him sacked far sooner.
The reality is that he took us to three successive 9th place finishes before he began to lose his way and the players were still saying he was the right man for the job even as we were plunging deeper into the shit. The reality is that Hughes is an average manager, good enough to get to a certain level but not good enough to improve further or even maintain it over a long period of time.
