Good stuff. Cords and cardies at the ready. I saw them 4/5 years ago at the Birmingham Symphony Hall when they were doing one of several concerts backed by the English Contemporary Orchestra. It's the most well dressed audience I've ever seen for a band. They'd also designated as a non-sweary child friendly concert so the age range was vast I saw them there with an orchestra in 2010 - it was good, but not much to get the pulse racing. For years B&S were a band I thought I should like, but couldn't get into. But then something clicked (I don't know what) and Dear Catastrophe Waitress was suddenly one of the best albums I'd heard. I saw them live again about 3 or 4 years ago (not with an orchestra this time) and it was so boring it put me off seeing them again. Towards the end of the gig I was wishing I'd gone to see Jambinai instead, who were playing on another stage: Speaking of boring gigs, do you like Camera Obscura? They're responsible for 2 disappointing gigs I've been to (like they didn't want to be there at all), but they have some great songs: I saw Jane Weaver mentioned above - another recommendation from me: I don't know why B&S and Camera Obscura have been boring live as indie pop bands have been some of the most uplifting gigs I've been to - the likes of The School, Lucky Soul and Alvvays. As for the best Scottish band ever, that has to be Teenage Fanclub. I had quite a stressful afternoon in China recently, trying and eventually booking tickets to see them in November - 6 times! They're doing 3 nights each from a different era.

Thanks for putting those positive thoughts into my head

Weird. From nowhere, fell in love with this song again over the weekend, then see this thread.
"She was into S&M and bible studies Not everyone's cup of tea she would admit to me"

And of course this 90 minute film summed up in 150 seconds!

And of course this 90 minute film summed up in 150 seconds! Homage to Jules et Jim. With glimpses of the beautiful Isobel.

Been dusting off some neglected crevices of the record library, came across a bit more B&S than I thought I had. Despite 'Wrapped up in books' never quite having the confidence to fully break out into... 'you're going to find me... down in the country...' and irks somewhat as a consequence, the 'Books' ep is rather good. Forgot it existed, never mind being in my possession. Disco.... aaaargh...

I saw the lads and the lass and even the old trumpet player last night on their home patch at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall together with the Scottish National Orchestra
Both parties giving their time to raise funds for the new hospice a Bellahouston Park
Kicked of with this one
Cracking versions of I want the world to stop and I'm waking up to us. Really nice venue.

Good work, felonious, I think we owe it to our kids to steer them away from the kind of shite that so infests much of the airwaves and kids tv programmes these days. There really is so much good stuff out there. You just have to make a bit more of an effort. Not sure if you've come across Jane Weaver? Modern Kosmology is a cracking album. I think she likes to use a lot of old analogue synths but it's a lovely overall layered sound. I was due to see her at the Hare and Hounds in Moseley but my mate bailed on the day and I sacked it off too. Big mistake. Well six years to the day I've finally got around to listening to this album it's very good

Well here's an update on B&S yesterday Young Fel's partner took me to one side and she said "I'm not supposed to tell you this but he said last week that if he could only listen to one band for the rest of his life it would have to be B&S" It's taken 26 years but I got there in the end

Ah splendid a whole thread about B&S that I didn't know existed. I shall read the whole thing with interest, but not tonight.

Named after a 1960's French t.v. series about a kid and his massive dog.

I'm not a convert to B&S but this looks a good line up for those of you who are...

Been trying to get into these since the late 90’s, just can’t get round to liking it. I’m probably not intelligent enough to understand ay Fel?

She's in her tower
And she's beautiful, sure
The quicker you learn she has no soul to discern
At least no business of yours
You bear the vacuum of scars
She was put there to tempt you
Like the perfume of flowers
