I'm looking for a team full of Stoke players who were crap at Stoke, but were mint at other decent clubs either before joining us or after leaving us. Palacios, Kitson, Gudjohnsen, Owen, Woodgate would all be in contention, who else? Feel free to submit full teams, formations etc. Really after a ratio of outstandingly wank at Stoke and tremendously good elsewhere to be a serious consideration. John Clarke

Two those were at the end of their careers. I thought Woodgate did well for us other than the Wolves game.

It's one thing hoovering up everyone's misfits, injured, broken and fat old timers for one last payday. Eidur, Owen, etc
What about limiting it to players who were wank with us and went on to bigger and better things afterwards. There's not so many apart from all those gems we apparently let go from the youth team to cries from the Oatcake who went on to do erm ... nothing!

Wimmer would be a shoe in , but there is little evidence that despite paying £18m for him that he was any good anywhere else.

Can we not give not our current players a fair crack of the whip until they’ve proved conclusively that they can’t function properly under the new manager any better than the last one. This constant belittling of our players ain’t helping anyone.

Was John Carew that bad for us? Seem to recall him having a really good game against Sunderland when we won 3-2.
Also I wouldn't say Tuncay was wank for us
Shilton and Pressman are good a shouts as any.

£250.000 with a rumoured £250.000 signing on fee( lot of cash in them days) And was just crap! Scored for fun in the reserves though. I remember getting a tingle when he signed and thinking this bloke is going to be the dogs bollox as he was with PNE, now I just remember him being gash and didn't he go ages without a goal? and 250 grand!!
Didn’t he score 2 in his first 3 games then did bugger all???

Michael Owen could have been a success had pulis actually played him. Owen maintains he was fit for most of his time here Agreed. There was nothing wrong with Michael Owen and I'm sure he'd have been good for us, had he managed to get in the side. I will never understand what went on there.

He has no place here.

Going for a team Given Woodgate, Sonko, Davies, Collins Stewart, Palacios, Tuncay Kitson, Owen, Gudjonson Bench (so many strikers to choose from) Carew Bony Berahino Ameobi Fat Nev Southall Imbula (18m so he must have displayed some talent) Wimmer The fact that we have so many 'decent elsewhere, shite at stoke' strikers suggests the issue is the style of play or the supply line TBH It's not the style of play imo it's the oversized wages and lack of motivation. In short they come here to retire and get paid well to do so. We just keep buying older players with no ambition on their way down instead of younger ones with hunger and desire. We will always be a stepping stone . But we need to be , and need to be seen to be a stepping stone up not a retirement plan.
