I couldn't give a flying fuck what he does in his private life, he can be Madame Cindy at the weekend as long as he performing on the pitch. Think it's a massive stretch to compare his response to training banter with fellow players, to commenting on a potentially serious legal issue. Well terry hes not performing on the pitch either, is he? No, I don't think he is but this "story" is an non issue, if he was on 10+ goals we'd all probably be laughing at it. I'd imagine we'd be making mirth out of the fact that SB "can't stop scoring" I don't think he worth a place in the team but this story is irrelevant to the players "ability" discussion

Where do we cut our losses with Saido? As an isolated incident then fine it is a case of his own time no one else's business. But it's not is It? Added to his previous, along with a piss poor attitude to his work, lack of application, it all adds up to Saido being a massive bell end.

Imbulla, I agree looks like a bad piece of business at this point in time. Wimmer, I don't necessarily agree. Spurs gave him a 5-year deal in 2016, and I don't think they would have done that for a very poor player. In the games he played for them, the goals conceeded record was good. For us, he has had some poor games (along with most of the rest of the defence) but also some Ok games and hasn't played in a settled formation. Although I think he was probably overpriced, that's not the same as saying that he's a poor player or has no value. Let's wait and see what Lambert gets out of him. But the main point is that nearly all PL club's transfer teams have a mixed record. It's just that the supporters of any club are very aware of their own 'failures' but the failures of other clubs in the market are much less likely to visible, for the obvious reason that they tend not to be playing. I would argue that to balance the 'failures' our transfer team have had a lot of good value successes in recent years too - Arnie, Shaq, Crouch, Bojan (before his injury), Allen, N'Zonzi, Butland, Bauer, Chupo, Ramadan, to name a few. So I take it you are ok with the £50 million investment made on the three Hughes amigo's ?, I could give you a list of failures spanning the years the players you mention were signed however I am talking specifically about these three flops. I'm afraid you are either not reading what I said, or are deliberately misrepresenting it. I'm not sure which. Of course I'm not ok with it, and neither I suppose for a moment are the club. We all want every signing to be a great success. I specifically said that Imbulla looks like a bad piece of business; that whilst I think Wimmer looks overpriced, it's too early to write him off as a poor signing, for the reasons I gave, and let's see what the new manager makes of him; that the club obviously believed (along incidentally with a lot on this Board) that with a fresh start Berahino could get back to what he had been. That hasn't happened, but it doesn't mean it was a totally unreasonable punt to take. But at the risk of having to repeat myself, a fair assessment of our transfer team should take into account, firstly, that nearly all clubs have their failures as well as their successes, it's just that we tend to not to be aware of them, and, second, that in recent years we have also made many good value signings, including those I listed. It's a mixed picture, as indeed it is at many clubs.

Malcolm I asked a question earlier about whether football clubs have any come back on players who choose not to make the required effort or bring the clubs name into disrepute. Contracts can't be that tight surely? I can understand that a player needs to have certainty of money in the bank but the club should expect commitment from the player and certainly an expectation that its player won't be spread across the headlines for mixing it with hookers?

No such accusations have been made by reputable sources during his time at Stoke.

So there is no problem with our scouting then I see !, I take it all back our record signing, record defensive signing and a player we tracked for two years all at this point in time failing badly to do the jobs they were bought here for, still as you say it happens at all other clubs so all is hunky dory.

It's an interesting question. I'm not an employment lawyer but I would guess that unless there is a specific clause in the contract about certain types of non-work behaviour, it would difficult to make that one stick. Similarly lack of effort would be difficult to prove. But as Billy says, I think clubs would be more interested in trying to get rid and get a transfer fee, which they would lose if the player is just dismissed.

Polite, respectful debate and disagreement between fellow fans is great, but if someone just repeatedly distorts or misrepresents what you say, it becomes impossible.

I had no idea we had such a large amount of criminal defense lawyers on the oatcake who reckon the best course of action is to fight fire with fire and argue it out in the media. Given that the sun printed a picture of the wrong bloke claiming it was him with this girl could it be some random bloke has told her he's saido just to try and impress and then another thought why would a journo just happen to cross paths with sed footballer if he was trying to shag an escort on that very night ? He's no David Beckham that paps are not gonna be chasing him all over the show are they, doesn't anyone think he'd be a little more discrete than that if that's what he was up to especially given he's already engaged ? This has set up written all over it. Let's not forget this is the same paper that leaves booze on Gazzas doorstep for a photo opportunity they'd sink to any level to get a story. None of it makes sense.

I sense a touch of smoke and mirrors from the club over Berahino's alleged indiscretions. If it's another case of fake news then SCFC have nothing to do but grin and bear their misfortune.
If however all the tabloid reports are true I cannot see a respectable Coates family tolerating such an indiscretion. If the football club set down moral standards for players before signing them then I reckon this one would place Berahino in breach of contract and sack hime forthwith.
However with all of the baggage revealed during the protracted chase for his signature I reckon with a driving ban and drugs use I reckon that his 'considered minor' misdemeanours whilst at WBA would have prevented him from joining Stoke City anyway.
Bet365 must have some pretty serious lawyers at hand so sack Saido quickly to protect the clubs reputation and save some money.
The maths are wages at £70K per week= £3.64M per year. Over 5 years =£18.2m
Paid £12m for him with a £3m success(unlikely)clause =£15m
Therefore add it all together at £33m for a player who will probably never again score a goal, play for the club, learn how to be a professional and care about his very privileged position in life.
Get shut of him, sacrifice the transfer fees and save £15,000,000
Alternatively if the reports are fake get him fit, scoring goals and then sell him but I fear we have another Nile Ranger situation here.

Its really this simple, Berahino has proved time and time again he simply is not good enough. He was caught taking drugs at west brom, which probably enhanced his performance at west brom and was a contribution to his goal scoring. He is now off the gear and hasn't got a clue where the net is.
He plays in various formations, along side different team mates with the quality of Bojan, shaq, affaley and ireland who can pick passes out for fun and the guy is no closer to scoring.
He cant score a 1v1 from 12 yards out on the penalty spot, and he also cant beat a league 2 defender time and time again which was proven against Coventry. No pace, No ability, no strength, being overweight and no effort. This added with his poor attitude, poor professionalism, and career that went down the shitter at a previous club surely it must be time to say GOODBYE.
