The way that his Wolves side played against us in the cup should be the EXACT way that we play for the rest of the season. Organised, hard working, tough to break down, extremely purposeful and aggressive on the break. Generally there to make the game as difficult for the opposition as possible. If he can get us playing like that we might actually start to sense some of that long lost Stoke DNA again.
Admittedly he only had to do this against Imbula and Bojan, but I'm trying to squeeze any positive possible out of this situation!

Like to think that we'd welcome anyone who wanted to come to Stoke City and help make us better.
So Welcome Paul Lambert.
We all know he has a tough job on his hands with an under performing squad so good luck with that.
I'll judge you on your signings and results and your ability to enthuse the crowd and if you do that you will find there is no better crowd.
The Ball is quite litteraly in your court. Good Luck

I really want to be optimistic, but stats don't lie.
2 clubs (Norwich & Aston Villa) 139 games 37 wins 37 draws 65 losses 26.6% win rate 150 goals 230 conceded 1.06 points per game
If he can emulate that Wolves performance against us then I'm all for it. But he better go and get some players with pace. Best of luck Paul, you're going to need it.

No matter what you think of this appointment, we gotta give the team and the manager our full support the rest of the season.
Recreate the Bear Pit, and we'll have a fair chance of staying up.
Start booing a man, who has just been appointed and we are certainly relegated!

Not the manager I would have picked, but I don't suppose there was a queue for the job, given the shambolic state we are currently in.
As others have said, at least he wants the job and is up for the fight, so he deserves credit for that.
Hopefully he can sort out the defence and will be backed financially.
He might surprise us.

Apparently he’s come here with a clear plan. I suppose all we can do is give him the necessary support to implement that plan and hope that the board give him the necessary backing. Not happy but I hope to take my place in the humble pie queue in May...

He took Norwich from League One to the Premier League, and didn't lose 2 successive games in his first two seasons at Norwich. Villa were already in decline.

Why pay him a Shit load of money to take us down? We could have gone down without a manager and saved on wages. Maybe because we're not going down?

Pulis wasn’t my first choice when he turned up, but he did ok for us, didn’t he..? Both times!! C'mon Stoke let's give the bloke a fair crack at the job before throwing our toys out the pram! C'Mon you mighty mighty potters! We'll be with you every step along the way (even if the manager appointed was not our first choice)

It's a struggle to get much positive out of this profile of him from the Villa correspondent. I can understand people trying to be positive, but this is an absolutely shocking appointment that is beyond belief for a club owned by billionaires and having been in the premier league for a decade.

It's pretty clear that Villa had much much bigger issues than Lambert? By all accounts he kept them afloat when they should have sunk?
It's clean slate time, the first time he's joined a premier league club with sane owners

That Keys seal of approval in full... richardajkeys.com/index.php/blog/item/manic-mondayStoke have got their man - and a good man too - in Paul Lambert. Paul is hugely experienced, very well connected and good at what he does. We’ve been delighted to have spent a lot of time with him at beINSPORTS while he’s been out of work. He knows the Premier League inside out. He knows all about relegation battles - having kept Villa up for three years on a £10m/year transfer budget. And he knows what he’s doing. Stoke have chosen well. On the face of it, I know it doesn’t look too exciting if you’re a Stoke fan. West Ham fans didn’t want David Moyes initially but I’ll bet they’re happy now. Roy Hodgson has got Palace moving and I’m hoping that Alan Pardew does the same thing at West Brom. British coaches eh? What do they know?

If he can pull off 4 th from bottom he has played a blinder
Any higher than 4 th from bottom would be a full on miracle

In my long experience of football watching and playing the best manager is a lucky manager.
So good luck to Paul Lambert.
His track record has both good and bad in it not just in terms of his performance but also choices made when choosing clubs . You couldn't blame him for joining Villa by all definitions a big club , certainly a lot bigger than us , but they had become an accident waiting to happen and it did.
It seems to me we are a club in transition , evidenced by both Coate's being now mentioned as playing a part in the decision making process , so this may have had an effect not just in the managerial change but perhaps in Hughes's downfall ?
For me given the relative standard and current performance of all but the top 4 we have as good a chance as anyone . I feel the biggest need is still a goalscorer as the other issues can be coached even in the 16 games left.
All our managers even arguably the best , Tony Waddington , had their bad times.
Who knows a win tonight and we are on the way .
Football is always about unreasonable hopes.

Underwhelmed about this appointment to say the least. But he is here now and has 15 games to prove all the doubters wrong(myself included) No matter our feelings on his appointment or anger towards the board we all need to Back him and the team he puts out each game. With how the league is it is any 3 from 9 who could. We are not the only ones that need to Back Lambert the board do too, give him the funds that were promised to QSF, get busy in the transfer market to give him the best possible chance of succeeding. I don't care what his previous managerial record was now all that matters is his performance and commitment to stoke. Let's give him a chance and screw all the neigh sayers. We are Stoke

This is a man who has had his fingers burnt trying to break the mould at Villa as they transitioned from an extremely promising side into a team pulling players from the depths of English football and trying to make it work.
He has taken his risks at other clubs and I am confident he knows better this time. He will know how fortunate he is to be at this club and the fact that he actually wants the appointment for me will see him steady the ship.
Out of everyone we wanted before him, I believe he is less likely to take anything for granted where as other managers probably would of.
Get behind the man.
