And meanwhile we wait for a decision from bloody MON ! The Board should have acted last summer to sack Hughes, get a new manager in and start to change the team and squad. Instead we've blindly blundered and bumbled along into the catastrophic situation we now find ourselves in.
The Board's handling of the manager's job has been pathetic and terribly mismanaged, but sadly totally in keeping with the on and off the pitch performance of the club.
We are seemingly sinking inexorably towards the Championship and our only "hope" appears to Martin O'Neill and his rottweiler.
If we receive a rejection from them then we're left seriously scrabbling around trying to find our next manager. And who knows who that will be or how much longer it will take to appoint them. The transfer window is quickly passing by meaning we'll be having to pay well over the odd for panic signings or we'll be fishing in the Loans market.
Inspiring it most certainly isn't, extremely worrying it most certainly is !
The club is a complete and utter shambles on and off the pitch !

Every season a club implodes and relegates itself by its own failings and poor long-term decisions - hull, villa. It looks like it's our turn this year.

Our only shot is getting a manager in this week and filling key positions by the end of the window. If we can do then we have a chance if not then we are Championship bound. Odds maybe 50:50.

It's funny isn't it.
A lot of us Stokies could see this coming before the season started because of what was going on defensively and results wise from last season. A lot of non-Stoke fans could also see it coming because Hughes was favourite pre-season for the first manager to be sacked and lots of other fans in the pre-season write-ups in newspapers were tipping Stoke as one of the three to go down. I think in one of the papers I read seven of the 20 PL clubs fans had us to go down.
So, the only people this seems to have shocked are Mark Hughes and the board.
Mismanagement at all levels is the only conclusion.

It's fair to say that a fair few fans on here were as blinkered as the manager and board were, though as well.......

Have you seen our fixture list? Judging by that response you haven't. I'm not usually negative but it's reasonable to assume that we need another 14 points. Looking at our remaining fixtures I can see a maximum of 9/10. I hope I'm wrong.

West Brom look doomed, Huddersfield seem to be headed the same way, as for us I think we can escape.

We're in it up to our necks. I'd say it's 50/50 whether we stay up or not. A lot of football to be played yet.

It's the first time I've actually felt there's a real possibility we could go down, before today I thought we had enough in the tank to pull out of it but now I'm not so sure.
If we play as we did first half we'll be fine, if we play as we did 2nd half we'll go down, it's that simple.

The one positive from today was the first half, we ran out of steam 2nd half so they need to be fitter we all knew that anyway if Lambert gets them fitter the pressing game works

I thought Huddersfield was a turning point but after Watford and today I'm very worried.
Just cant see where the goals are coming from.
Looking at our fixture list I'd say we are in deep trouble.

3 points separate nine teams. We are far from dead and buried. The only thing us fans can do is give Super Pauly McLambert our backing and support.

I think we're in shitloads of trouble. Crap gd, less than a point a game. Tough April fixtures. Looking at another 10 points if form to date continues, total 34 points, relegation.
We might be very lucky and scrape out but it looks desperate at present. Swansea did it last year, let's hope it's us this year.
I sincerely hope Coates et al are planning for life in the Championship but I suspect not. It'll be a case of didn't see that coming. Well, we all did 18 months ago.

Losing 6 pointers is a perilous path
Walking out of the stadium today I genuinely think we’ve had it

I thought Huddersfield was a turning point but after Watford and today I'm very worried. Just cant see where the goals are coming from. Looking at our fixture list I'd say we are in deep trouble. I think a lot of people thought that the Huddersfield game was a turning point but were we just kidding ourselves? Paul Lambert was a massively underwhelming appointment, but because we had a different voice at the press conferences I think a lot of us got a bit carried away due to the fact that we had become bored shitless with hearing our old failing manager churn out the same old crap week after week. Then when we went on to win our first game under the new manager people were understandably excited and expecting the new manager bounce to take hold and see us go on a bit of a run, when in reality we were absolute dogshit against Huddersfield in the first half and only won due to being a bit better than they were in the second half. Then onto the Watford game, and it was as bad a performance as anything we've seen under Hughes (with the ball), where we looked like a side who have never met before, never mind played together for the last three seasons or so. We created fuck all yet again in a game where we really should have been pushing for three points and if the Watford players had spent more time trying to beat us as they did trying to con the ref they would have beaten us for sure. I haven't seen any of today's game, so cannot comment on what went on but it's another defeat against a team who are in and around us and by all accounts we looked pretty toothless yet again with the lumbering Crouch up front on his own yet again! Let's not beat about the bush here, we are right in a relegation battle and as it stands I'd be amazed if we stay up. We have a pretty shit football team, coupled with a manager who has failed at pretty much every job he's had, bar Norwich which was a long time ago now.

Losing 6 pointers is a perilous path Walking out of the stadium today I genuinely think we’ve had it Exactly, we've always managed to beat the poorer sides, and that has always kept us up even when we couldn't beat any of the big boys. Now we're the side everyone else is picking up points from. The most irritating thing for me is that Hughes was favourite to be first manager sacked before the season started and we were a lot of other fans choice to be relegated. So if they could see it and lots of us could see it, why was nothing done about it?

I think it was always going to take more than 3 games for lambert to get to grips with this squad. He probably needs another 3-4 games. Hope it’s not too late by then.
