If a football crosses 51 percent of the goal line, and then falls off a cliff as if it were a bottle of coke on the edge of a bar, and there's nobody there to see it, does it make a sound? Yeah it makes the sound "Gooaaaal!" or "No goal!" depending on whether or not it agrees with the OP.

Stupid thread. There has to be some sort of a rule, it's been what it is for donkey's years. Whatever the rule is, there will be very close calls to be made whether it's the whole ball, 50% or 1%. Everyone is judged by the same rule. There's nothing "unjust" about it as long as every team is playing to the same rule (which they are). Moaning about one particular instance where a different rule would've given a different result is just petty minded whinging.

What a pointless thread.
Three pages of arguing seems rather ridiculous when the rules are the rules.
Are there any other rules we'd like to change because Stoke have lost out in some way or another?

The goal line doesn't have a cliff edge. The ball could be 99% over the line and stay there . I want an inquest! -- Clearly there is an incline in that goal! OK I'm on the case. I'll get me spirit level and be up there right away.
