Has anyone considered the effect these attacks are having on Angela and Nigel. I understand they are in the public eye but personal attacks are not only inappropriate they can be deeply hurtful. They are local journalists and ordinary folks who love the team and the town. They have almost certainly done more to Stoke City FC and Stoke-on-Trent than all the anonymous posters on the Oatcake combined. Is anyone on here been a world champion? Certainly, they make mistakes (who doesn’t) and they deserve to be corrected. However, how many of us can say our work is on public display for all to hear and is it really necessary to nit-pick everything little thing? “If you don’t have anything useful to say, it is best to say nothing” is a good rule. This is a place for discussion of all matters football not a forum for rude, personal attacks on decent people who have no opportunity to defend themselves. So let’s stick to football and confine juvenile comments to the place where they belong.

There should be a different Oatcake representative on each week. One week we could have a heavily opinionated monologue from Bayern about how Tom Ince is still a good player at this level, which would contrast quite nicely with a danceswithclams week who proclaims that Harry Souttar's Large Thighs would make for a great 80s Glam Punk band name. And then Benjamin biscuit who would authoritatively assert that the rwsson thimgs arebnit foong wekk is bwcaise Johnncoatrs disnt jnowvhiwntovirganidea pissipnonbabbrewry

Did you by chance hear him getting all high pitched about the Vale fans ringing/texting in about giving Askey the boot? He's Vale through and through is Lee.

It's sad to hear tbh but it's just a poor service they deliver.

For me Nige is the voice of Stoke City, a bit like a warm blanket in these difficult times - comforting and familiar. OK he makes some mistakes, but if I'm watching it on the stream, it doesn't matter a jot because I can see it for myself. Going back to Jim, the original topic of the thread, whose appearances on Praise & Grumble (which I don't listen to) clearly make a stir, does anyone know his surname ? I only ask because I am curious as to whether it is a particular Jim I am thinking of - but I don't want to give the name on a public message Board in case it isn't !

I think the stream makes it worse because you can see what he’s saying actually has very little to do with what’s going on.

Jim is a legend he could start a fight in a phone box but you can't deny he is a massive Stoke fan, during the 80's and 90's whichever obscure ground we travelled to Jim was always there and most of the time falling out with everybody around him with his total opposite opinions to everybody else which occasionally turned into fisticuffs, think it was Shrewsbury once when he was defending Tony Ellis whilst everybody else was slagging him off but that was not an isolated incident you'd always hear his booming voice usually followed by steward intervention, he used to work at Cheadle recycling centre and if I managed to catch his attention he'd start a rant about the match, the fans, basically the opposite of what I thought was good, lately he can be found working at Morrisons in Newcastle if you want to go and have a quiet chat with him.

I only ask because I am curious as to whether it is a particular Jim I am thinking of - but I don't want to give the name on a public message Board in case it isn't ! Jimmy Carter Ah ! It is who I was thinking of. I remember that with his then young son Richard ( who later worked as a coach at the Club but has now left I think ? ) he had a season ticket on the central front row of the main stand at the Vic and they were regulars at away games. Nobody within earshot (which was quite a way in Jim's case) was left in any doubt about what he thought of a particular player, team performance or whatever. Sounds like time hasn't mellowed him ! BUT if you look in the new extended paperback version of "Marvellous", opposite page 81, or in the hardback opposite page 53, you will see a picture of Nello in the famous chicken suit at Bournemouth, and immediately behind him and pointing at him is a beaming Jim ( with my daughter and I in the background). Maybe we were playing well that day and Jim was in a good mood !

Just catching up with Mr J From Trenthams starring role on Tuesday. Surely there's some irony or sarcasm here - the new Gordon Banks
As for Nige, he's got to be in on the joke, going full Ron Manager mode with Jason and The Argonauts.
Im certain he gets the team sheet every week and scans down, and changes the names to suit. 'Tim Kruuuul' -im not having that -Hes Timmy Cruel tonight. 'Baaaatth' -hes Bart to me from now on. Sue Tar has been well established. Alongside Bart and Timothy Cruel I think he's had a bet to make the match commentary sound like a missing Chapter of Dickens
KEEP IT UP NIGE

There should be a different Oatcake representative on each week. One week we could have a heavily opinionated monologue from Bayern about how Tom Ince is still a good player at this level, which would contrast quite nicely with a danceswithclams week who proclaims that Harry Souttar's Large Thighs would make for a great 80s Glam Punk band name. I've emailed Radio Stoke several times about this very possibility but I haven't had a reply. They have also blocked my IP address and I've received a letter from their legal representatives telling me to cease contact.
