Very sad. Are stress tests not part of a typical annual exam for pro athletes? Seems as though this happens often enough.

Fucking hell. Rest in peace, Dionatan. Please, PLEASE be some fucked up joke. I actually hope it is. The alarming regularity in which this is happening to supposedly healthy footballers is frightening, just this year we have Teixeira, Tiote and Abdelhak Nouri left severely brain damaged, and that’s only the ones I know about, and even that is too many. I’ve lost a relative to it as well, I’m booked in for an ultrasound of the heart next week to ensure there’s no danger of anything like this happening to me. Is it a hereditary thing? Hope it goes well for you.

Hope it goes well for you. That’s what I’m checking, early tests show it to be a horrific one off but with how much things like this keep happening it spurred me to get checked, it’s half an hour out of my day and I’d encourage other lads to do the same, if only to prevent more tragedies like this one.

.... RIP Jonny Tex. Very sad. Commendable BM going for an echocardiogram. However, most deaths at a young age are due to fatal arrhythmias rather than a structural abnormality. Myocardial infarction (death of heart muscle) is the usual cause of death over 40. However, an echo or stress test may fail to pick this up

Fortunately these fatal arrhythmia are very rare but they do happen and take people in the prime of life. One of my friends lost his wife 30 years ago to this condition while she was pulling weeds in her garden. They had three little kiddies.
