He'll win some, lose some and draw some what with them being Watford I'd have thought. I don't think anyone is saying he's a genius but he does look a very able manager. There's only him of the vaguely realistic targets I'd actively get rid of Hughes for right now, if there's the slightest chance he'd come. Yep, think you're right. Big game for them this weekend. He certainly galvanised a very poor Hull side and has made Watford the surprise package, so far getting them to produce more than the sum of their parts. He's had so few games in the Premier League I find it difficult to judge. I'm basically risk averse, so wouldn't swap him for MH at this point, who has demonstrated he can build a decent squad and at times play great football delivering consistently high league finishes. The problem with that 'risk averse' approach for a team like us is that it doesn't work. By the time he's built up a decent enough CV to convince us he's the real deal he'll be snapped up by a bigger, more attractive team. Which goes for anyone like him. I agree that I personally wouldn't swap him and Hughes at the moment but quite often clubs like ours have to take a bit of a punt. It's not too dissimilar with players.

You seem to be a lot less generous with poor results than you are with our present and previous managers, Okey... You've nailed it there, because they're "ours" a bit of objectivity goes out of the window! All the pack can easily go on a 3 game run of defeats. As said above, he's obviously got something but it is maybe too early to judge for me. He's done OK, but not as well as the under rated and stereotyped Dyche. The other interesting observation is that so far De Boer, Billic and Koeman have gone, the first two being replaced with the ultra conservative (and British) Hodgson and Moyes. Despite his media flounce I suspect if the money was right and Everton become increasingly desperate, Allardyce would be at Goodison faster than you could say Z-Cars. As the good Lord B observes above, if Everton lose at Palace, things are looking decidedly shaky. The Pochettino effect is diminishing. Are Chairmen less inclined to take a big risk in the hope of striking gold and prefer a safe pair of hands to avoid the trap door and the shark infested waters of the Championship? It certainly looks that way. The real barrier to young English coaching talent, it appears, is not dastardly foreign types but the old boys' club of ageing British managers. I read the other day that something like 9 of the last 14 Prem appointments have been British, yet we're told they don't get the jobs?

Definitely agree, which is a shame when you look at the fresh thinking Southgate has brought to the national team. If Hughton keeps Brighton up and Brucey brings The Villa back up the Premier League will be like one of those programmes where they get old celebrities to go on holiday together. As Laughing Gravy rightly points out, if " a new manager" prove themselves, a club like us misses the boat. True, but I just don't see PC ever taking that risk. Palace going from De Boer to Hodgson was really interesting. It's like slamming "the project" into reverse. Seems to be more panic than planning. The one I forgot is Shakespeare (daft appointment in the first place) for Puel. He strikes me as a fairly conservative, organised type too though. Still think most chairmen would appoint Silva before say, Johnson. Cautious Chairman afraid of throwing caution to the wind.

Agreed, and a poor example.
I think a Premier League Chairman would definitely appoint Koeman, Silva, possibly Bilic before Wilder, Monk, Rowett, Johnson and even more proven oldies like Pardew, Rednapp, Bruce or Warnock.
Ironically, and back on topic, if Everton hadn't have just fired Koeman, he looks about the best candidate for them!

Utter gobbledegook once again. The bit I think I do understand is you're predicting us to be in the bottom 3 after the Palsce(sic) game. Is that right? Do you realise for that to happen West Brom will have to beat either The Shit or Spurs, Swansea will have to win both their games and West Ham will have to win one and draw one? Oh and we'll have to lose both ours. Not impossible I grant you but highly unlikely. Post a photo of your betting slip where you've put £100 of your own money on that outcome and I'll take your ramblings seriously. PS and your prediction that Palsce will get 6 points means they'll beat Everton. So to go above us Everton will need to beat Southampton away. Again not impossible just unlikely.

At the start of this season, by my reckoning, 13 of the 20 Prem managers were foreign. The only new appointments were Silva, Pellegrino and De Boer. After 11 games, De Boer, Koeman, Bilic and Shakespeare have gone. Hodgson, Moyes and Puel in, with Everton to appoint. It's currently 11 foreign managers (11 in the top 13 places) to 8 British, with Everton to appoint soon. I think Bruce will come up with Villa, as he should with their budget and resources. I agree with you about Rednapp and Warnock - both surely finished in the Premier League. Pardew is too close to the knuckle to think about. With Moyes off the scene, he fits the profile of a PC appointment if we were to part company with MH. If there is a trend, I believe the "pack" in the Premier League is becoming more conservative in playing and therefore managerial style. The top 6 are now so far ahead, that any of the rest could be relegated in any season. That means sack the flair, be pragmatic and pick up points where you can. That is reflected in the latest appointments.

Beciae is my Polish shagging machine who oddly has an interest in ornamental garden pond fish. As Benji suspects, I'm in a hand mood because Beciae woo't let me earn my brown wings. So on Saturday night instead of rogering her silly I'll watch Match of the Day and then knock one out over Man Utd like he does. At least I think that's what he meant. PS did you notice he blamed it on his travelling again. This time on a ricketty train. We ought to call him Whicker from now on.

I hope you're right. It's the most compelling argument for sticking with Hughesy.
He's a weird one though. Took the Toon to 5th. Different days I know, but he's the most streaky manager I can think of. His record seems to be one of feast or famine.
Maybe he'll join that elite club of Curbishley, O'Leary, Gregory, Di Matteo etc who disappear from the top flight never to be seen again.

That's the point I was trying to make to Benji mate. You could not possibly 'predict' that combination of results. They ARE possible but highly improbable. Benji was just doing his usual doom mongering 'worst case scenario' guff and passing it off as a logical prediction. I know football doesn't follow logic but it does generally follow form which is why teams at the bottom generally stay at the bottom and teams at the top stay at the top throughout the season with only minor fluctuations. In other words he's talking his usual 'Chicken Lickin' nonesense.
