So, Hughes sees Diouf as a striker long-term? What about before, when he wasn't playing wing back and was shoved on the wing? And why has he been playing wing back for so long anyway, if he knew three at the back was going to be his preferred set up. You'd have thought Mame wouldn't be too chuffed at this situation going beyond January and it doesn't help us if it means playing Choupo down the middle or trusting Berahino. It's a mess and no mistake.

I'll be amazed if he's not player of the season unless he gets a serious injury.
I love the way he approaches the game, always smiling and giving all he can for the team even when he's being used in a position that he clearly doesn't think he should be playing.

It's a mess and no mistake. Hughes' thinking on the wing-back positions over the summer was as clear as mud. Did he really think Tymon would be an option? (he clearly isn't - so when will he be?) And, on the other side, he prefers a bloke he considers a striker to be superior (probably rightly for the moment) than the 33-year-old he gave a new deal to and the 18-year-old who may or may not be ready at some undetermined time in the future. Not sure we can hold the fort with Diouf and Pieters until a couple of 18-year-olds are ready. Teenage defenders are a very unusual sight in the Premier League. The full-backs in the winning England U20 squad are a couple of years older and are only now on the fringes. I know you can say 'we don't want to block their pathways', but I still think there's a case that we need 2 more senior options available in those positions in the medium-term.

We should be looking to sign 2 first team quality wing backs in the January window and Diouf should then be leading the line in my opinion.

Edwards looks ready when he is fit. Why isnt he getting back in the team to allow Diouf to play up top?

Shall we just give him player of the season now? Seriously. Can't think of a single Stoke player who'd challenge him in that contest. Not even Jack.
