Whilst the police sent in the cavalry to protect Bonzo from the mob the country is going down the $#!tter on a Tory vanity project.
As you may have gathered I have never voted Conservative, because Iām blessed with the notion of knowing when something is just wrong.
Wake up!

I don't think that he is very well, still suffering from the after effects of the virus. Irrespective of what you think of him as a person or politician, this virus is debilitating. And he has a new baby in the house.

Quite possibly, or just not very good. A triumph of confidence over competence, ambition over ability? The latest evidence of a government in chaos www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-52969679The quarantine plan will be quietly dropped next, if anyone is even bothering to observe it, that is.

The Metro appears to have nailed a new nickname for Patel... I'd give her and Pinocchio Hancock the heave in a Cabinet reshuffle. Boris will want to draw a line and 'move on' from the Domnishambles clusterfuck his first six months have been.

Talking of opinion polls as I was on another thread, this makes for interesting reading... I bet Boris was looking forward to much more of a GE victory honeymoon period than this, but if you can't cut it, you can't cut it...well worth reading the full report, only ten pages but lays bare the damage the lies and chaotic response to Covid by his govt have done to his standing... www.opinium.co.uk/public-opinion-on-coronavirus-4th-june/Direction of travel isn't looking good for the Bluffer...

From today's DT All that was world-beating about failed app was Hancock's bluster Michael Deacon Well that's one puzzle solved. About two months ago, Matt Hancock announced plans for an app that would track down people who had come into contact with the virus. It sounded great. Yet, as the weeks went by, the Government's message kept mysteriously changing. First we were told that the app was "absolutely essential" and would be launched in mid May. Yet after mid May came and went, we were told that the app was "merely the cherry on the cake" of a "world-beating" system, and that it would only be launched "when it was right to do so". Then, mere days later, we were told that actually the app "isn't a priority" and that it could wait "until the winter". What was going on? Yesterday we found out. Basically: the app didn't work. So this absolutely essential and world-beating piece of technology had now been scrapped. Such a story could easily be viewed as an embarrassment for Mr Hancock. Thank goodness then for his magnificent gift for spin. Yesterday evening, at the No10 news conference, the Health Secretary delivered a PR masterclass. "I want to be upfront and open" he began, "about the challenges that we, and other countries, have been facing". Exemplary start. Budding politicians, listen and learn. "I want to be upfront and open": look how brave and honest I am. "The challenges we've been facing": much nicer way to put it than "the mistakes we've made". Note also that crucial parenthesis, "and other countries", spoken with heavy emphasis. Translation: see I'm not the only one who's screwed up. On he went. Having "rigorously" tested the app, his team had "discovered a technical barrier" - which had also been hit by "every other country that is building its own app" (again, not just him). But not to worry, because he had "agreed to join forces with Apple and Google" (great use of "agreed", implying that Apple and Google had been begging him). And now, together, he and the tech giants were going to build a new app - and this one would work. "Because for me," he declared solemnly, "what matters is what works". Journalists asked when this new app would be ready. "We're not going to put a date on it, I'm afraid," sniffed Mr Hancock, "because I'm absolutely determined that it's got to be working effectively...I will not recommend people download an app until I'm confident that that's the right thing to do...Rather than just putting this out even though there are problems with it, I'd far rather get this right..."How nobly he said this - as if everyone in the country was shouting, "We want an app that doesn't work! Give us something completely useless this minute!" while he, Matt Hancock, was bravely defying them, determined to stand true to his cherished belief that the app should actually work before he released it. What a performance. World-beating. Back benches for Pinocchio soon I think...

I am watching the fireplace salesman, Williamson, holding the daily No,10 shambles. No scientists again, and this on the day that the alert level was reduced from 4 to 3. I do sometimes think that this āgovernmentā is not as good as it should be.

Today's DT: Taking back control If I were Boris Johnson, Iād be feeling just a tiny bit miffed. For the past couple of months, thereās been a spate of newspaper headlines announcing that the Prime Minister is about to āTake Personal Chargeā of this, or āTake Personal Chargeā of that. Heās going to āTake Personal Chargeā of the Governmentās response to the pandemic, āTake Personal Chargeā of the Governmentās approach to Brexit, āTake Personal Chargeā of the rules on social distancing. These announcements are always attributed to sources close to Mr Johnson. So presumably theyāre intended to show him in a favourable light. Make him sound strong and decisive. Frankly, though, I think they do the opposite. They undermine him. Because you take one look at these headlines, and think, āHang on. Heās only just taking charge of this? Wasnāt he in charge of it before?ā The unwitting ā and Iām sure erroneous ā impression is that up until now Mr Johnson has been sleeping on the job. It must be very annoying for him: all these stories that proudly announce heās going to start doing something youād assumed he was doing already. Any day now I half-expect to read that the Prime Minister is to Take Personal Charge of tying his shoelaces, or cutting up his dinner. āUntil now itās been Matt Hancockās job to cut up his dinner, but the Prime Minister is not impressed with the results,ā says a Downing Street source. āMatt has been repeatedly warned that the PM does not like the baked beans touching his fish fingers, but he just hasnāt listened. He has therefore been stripped of the role, with the PM assuming full responsibility for cutting up his dinner from Monday. He will also take personal charge of pretending the fork is a choo-choo train going into a tunnel, and will be providing all his own choo-choo noises.ā

There still might be criminality to be looked yet Bozo 'considers the matter closed. They have contempt for everyone who isn't one of 'them. Particularly the mugs who voted for them. That last bit amuses me a bit though, I have to admit!
