Momo, I've been saying this for a long time Momo. I don't think it is a consequence of the Tory government. It is a consequence of globalisation in a consumer society enabled by the technological revolution....in my opinion as big as the industrial revolution. The faceless bureaucrats dont9 really need many thinkers, creators even entrepreneurs just cogs in the wheel.( there are exceptions obviously) We all expect Amazon to deliver by tomorrow at the cheapest price. Often It is those who carried out the old traditional working class jobs who have got the service roles. Similar in the fast food industry and telephone call centres. This paper talks about it "‘An assembly line in the head’: work and employee relations in the call centre; Phil Taylor and Peter Bain....arguing that this work is as bad( worse in fact) than when the arguments against exploitation were often based upon someone being a cog in a wheel on a production line with no power. Labour's challenge is to try to genuinely often something different, some hope , creativity. Unfortunately as politicians who themselves are part of the system they seem to me to be simply perpetuating victimhood in order to get the moral high ground themselves and in actuality are offering nothing that is very different....they are creating an underclass whose only state of being is that we are helpless.....and that does not mean that I believe we should not care and that we should not look after the most vulnerable in our society. I don't know the answer but just to "blame the Tories" won't solve the problem....in fact it is deceiving and using those they say they are helping. I don't know the answer....but obviously there are political things we could do. The Tories don't think there is a problem, John and that is the real problem. They are desirous of this situation It's like the great Trump economic revolution a three card trick. Low paid jobs, many on zero hours arrangements, no rights, two weeks leave a year, pissing in bottles to meet targets. The technical revolution with industrial revolution industrial relations. The rich get richer on the sweat of abused labour and the tax payer pick up the bill for poverty wages by funding benefits. It's disgusting. Which government implemented tax credits ? the benefits that prop up the situation you are talking about.

The rich get richer on the sweat of abused labour and the tax payer pick up the bill for poverty wages by funding benefits. It's disgusting. I know what you are saying...I'm not sure that either of the main parties have the real desire or perhaps more importantly the capability to do anything about it...and there may be other implications of a Labour government on the economy that could actually make things worse. I really do think that Labour are making a massive mistake to be playing, or to be constantly be seen to be playing, the " helpless victim " card....most of the working class whilst being frustrated don't want to see themselves like that. Most bracket all politicians together as " only in it for themselves , and don't do anything to really change things for us"....and they may be correct in that. You have quite rightly picked up on the issue of jobs...but there are other issues. I really don't think that the potentisl current Labour party front bench does anything to inspire the faith of the working class....the latest big issue seems to be transphobia and gender misalignment, the usual anti racism arguments always seem to be close to the surface...they somehow seem to ignore the plight of the white male working class but ( dare I mention it) appear to want racial/ cultural cohesion and somehow don't "APPEAR" to be clearly against those who may be exploiting vulnerable white girls ( culture clash IS a working class community issue)....and it may have a lot to do with the media.....but Labour do not seem to do themselves any favours. Labour have made it a sin to be patriotic....many traditional Labour supporters are patriotic. Traditional Labour voters are more prepared to give Boris a chance and give him quite a bit of slack....I don't think it is wise just to blame the voters for that.

Oh Ken Loach who thinks the holocaust should be questioned yeah not sure I will worry about his take on anything. Absolute Fake News. Shame! This interview is what caused the stushie. He was too busy defending Corbyn to address a direct question on holocaust denial, instead he made a general statement that history needs to be discussed. That is what some people interpreted as meaning the Holocaust was up for debate. This deflection technique was used by Corbyn many times when he’d have been better off addressing the challenge directly.

But it was the wrong answer to the question about holocaust denial. Still, if you dance on the head of a pin you are going to fall off every now and then.

Perfect for you I guess. An opinion piece dripping in sarcasm. But, that’s all it is - an opinion. One you share, of course, so you’ll lap it up and share it as if it’s some sort of fundamental truth. For me, I’ll treat it for what it is. An occasionally humorous but mostly tedious opinion piece from someone with an axe to grind. A bitter piece from a biased bitter newspaper for bitter readers. The echo chamber that got Labour into it's current unelectable mess.

I don’t buy that either Loach or Corbyn are anti-Semitic. They are not happy with how the Palestinian people have been treated in the formation of Israel and subsequently by Israel. Sadly, for Corbyn at least - and I wouldn’t be surprised if the same applies to Loach - that support for the oppressed is hypocritical in that Corbyn is not concerned with oppression generally, only when it is associated with capitalism. So, while he stands up for the Palestinians suffering under the yolk of Israel and its capitalist sponsor Ame4ica he is silent about the fate of Muslims suffering in Putin’s Syria and in western China. So is Corbyn anti-Semitic - absolutely not. Is he a hypocrite - absolutely yes.

Or , if not silent, at least less vocal as a priority, on the fate of vulnerable white working class girls in this country....something a bit nearer to the hearts of voters of this country than western China. As an individual perhaps we should be concerned or have views on many ethical/ moral issues but pragmatically there is only very little that we van actually influence ar any one time....Labour has lost its' focus in wanting to be the conscience of the country. I don't think Corbyn is anti semitic either bit unfortunately , whether we like it or not , the Zionist issue IS conflated with Judaism in many sections of the community...so particularly given the Muslim support for Labour it is hard for Corbyn to come out of the issue well in a soundbite media. Equally he had problems being associated with the IRA and the independence of Ireland
