It's a fair point though, Northy, I would never vote for a Corbyn Labour Party but its a bit hypocritical to criticise their spending plans then announce that you're chucking money at people..to win votes. I thought the Tories were a load tax low spend Party. I don't understand what I view as the irrational fear of loaning money. Our economy is built on borrowing money and based on how the money markets are now it is virtually free for the government to borrow. The problem with money is when you are borrowing money to run your 'house' and pay your bills. If you are borrowing money to invest it like do when we get a mortgage and the government does to invest it in to projects that enable growth it's sensible because they get a return on the minimal liability it creates. This has been backed up the the chancellor who is basically looking break their own self imposed limit on borrowing which many economists are telling them to do too. Simply, we need more investment. We need to borrow more to stimulate growth. Loaning money, government bonds etc. should be OK, the amount Labour borrowed plus the huge PFI debts was just too much, PFI debts don't peak until 2032

Don't think he can stand in an election if he's in prison mate In the meantime they can get him in front if the liaison committee to explain some of his bizarre behaviour and dissembling. Chase the documents that the Government need to provide after Monday's session, demand a statement on the 'ongoing' negotiations with the EU for a deal. Try and resurrect all the bills that got guillotined at the suspension. Lots to do if you're not running away from scrutiny! He ain’t going to jail. I mean, if Blair dodged it with his charge sheet, no politician will ever go down. The danger with what you are saying - basically Parliament looking to embarrass Johnson is it could be counterproductive in that it helps Boris in his people vs Parliament argument which is the pillar he’ll be fighting the election on. “Preaching to the choir” and “Over egging the pudding” are a couple of idioms that are worth reflecting on if I was in Parliament just now. This should have been enough to nail Blair www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-secret-downing-street-memo-xh9h29xhqzrBush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.

Are you saying the USA, China and India don't have enough money to get their people basic healthcare and a good quality of life? Because they do. That money should be coming away from businesses and towards working people, not away from useful scientific work. The issue isn't that all the money spent on space could be used to help people. It's that a significant portion of the obscene amount of money hoarded by rich people and corrupt businessmen/politicians could be spent to ensure people don't die from famine and thirst on a daily basis. China is communist, America is capitalism at its most brutal . Which system works best for the population? China has to suppress its population to make it work . America just lets them fend for themselves. What you are describing as your preferred solution has no long term future . It's been tried many times and all it's done is make everyone poorer especially the countries as a whole . China is wealthy because of its trade not because it penalizes its entrepreneurs and confiscates their wealth . Interesting piece in the papers today about the amount of capital leaving the country , not because of brexit but the fear of corbyn and his 70 s economic policies. China's people live in poverty because it doesn't tell it's rich (mostly state-owned businesses) to share their ridiculous wealth. China is state-owned capitalism. The US has rampant poverty, homelessness and medical bankruptcy because they leave their people to be taken advantage of by the wealthy. What we have now has no long term future. Entrepreneurs with more money should bear more burden to help keep public infrastructure healthy. The only difference is that I believe they should contribute more. Especially those earning over 150k a year.

Kidsgrove selected as one of 100 towns to receive an extra £25 million from the government as part of their towns funds, this is in addition to the £121m Stoke on Trent will receive under the local growth fund and the £30m in City deal funding from the government
Apparently the Tories can't be arsed with S-o-T

And it’s competition that makes capitalism a success and socialism a failure. If you can figure a way to introduce effective competition into a socialist system, you may be onto a winner.

That is the fundamental flaw in socialism that explains why it is doomed to failure.

I'm just questioning why you are so distressed by tenuous deaths under a tory government as opposed to mass killings under a labour leader?

People have died under austerity according to a report even the writers of said dodgy report say they can not prove this, people died when there was no austerity a couple of thousand at the N Staffs, thousands perhaps hundreds of thousands of kids were sexually abused all over the country on the watch of Labour not a single person from Labour is ever held responsible and just a reminder without the tories cutting the record and rising deficit, debt interest would have been out of control.
