I read Biskind's "Down and Dirty Pictures" a few years back, both Weinstein's come across as aggressive "old Hollywood" style movie makers in the book and it doesn't surprise me at all that one of them decided to recreate the old casting couch days in the 21st century. Between Miramax, the Disney buyout and The Weinstein Company they had enormous power within the Hollywood bubble. As the old saying goes power corrupts and absolute power, absolutely corrupts. Mind you despite his lecherous tendencies Harvey is a mere candle in the darkness compared to say Don Simpson's (High Concept - Charles Fleming) short but crazy Hollywood life. It's been going on since the 20th century. Lysette Anthony now saying she was raped by him, but why does she say it now, was it actually 'rape' or just this is something she thought 'I have to endure to get on in the business' ? She closed her eyes, held her breath and let him get on with it. Behave yourself!

Still brushing the likes of Polanski under the carport though Would that be a red carport? Are they brushing it under the carpet though? He served a small amount of time at the time while awaiting trial and was then released pending the trial where he would take a plea bargain (which he agreed to and would plead guilty to unlawful sex with a minor). The judge then rejected that plea bargain idea and said he would be likely to be jailed for up to 50 years, and Polanski skipped the country as soon as he heard this and hasn't been back to the US since. They still have an open warrant for him if he ever sets foot in the country, and there is still an open Interpol Red notice for him. The problem isn't one of it being swept under the carpet, it's the fact that neither France or Poland (he is dual citizen of both) will agree to extradition to the US for him to face trial. He was arrested a few years ago in Switzerland where he was in prison for a couple of months and then under house arrest for several months before Switzerland also rejected the extradition application. The US want to put him on trial and always have, it's his home countries and those he has chosen to live in since the incident that are preventing that.

The US want him to come back so they can arrest him but no fucker will send him back

The guy has been stripped of his British Film Institute fellowship
I thought you were innocent until proven guilty??
I see a few other women are coming out of the closet too, if it was that bad, maybe they should have said something then..Even Tom Jones has spoken out, but hey his name is back out there now..more records sold.

Let's hope it's the full 25 years although with that walking frame and sudden ill health syndrome he probably won't live for two.

TEST Wasn't he stripped of his BFI fellowship once it became known that he had paid out several million dollars to settle out of court with several other women who had accused him of sexual misconduct over many years? I reckon the BFI did the right thing - in view of the multi million dollar pay outs the BFI had no need to wait for the result of the trail which dealt with separate charges not covered by the payouts. He didn't get paid for the fellowship - it is an honourary title - and I reckon the BFI were spot on in what they did. Now the trial is over - and when the appeal process has been exhausted - I wonder if his alleged "chronic" ill health (which he no doubt hoped would have swayed the jury verdict?) will clear up. He'll need to display a bit more agility to survive the US prison system than he has done in his court appearances!

She closed her eyes, held her breath and let him get on with it. Behave yourself! To be fair Lysette Anthony did gain the reputation along with Madonna at the time as one of those who'd pretty much do anything to get ahead in the business. Not saying for one second what happened in this case as we don't know. I think it was David Bailey who called her out a bit as offering to do any nude scene or whatever, photo pose etc as long as she met the right people. Her career flopped pretty much to be fair and she never got a starring role in a top film. Alfred Hitchcock had a bit of a reputation for trying it on with his ladies Tippi Hedren said and there was a female casting agent in the 60s/70s who took advantage of the up and coming male stars, name escapes me. I think it's something that's been a part of the movie industry since it began.
