In terms of a transfer fee, i think there is mate. We paid Chelsea a £7m transfer fee for Zoumas one year loan Jesé is probably similar I'd sooner take a chance on someone similar priced on a permanent deal. Hate loans.

Hard to properly judge him with a family trauma in his life, but at the moment even the Vale wouldn't play the lad. I reckon that there is probably a clause in his contract that states that if he is fit he starts anyway!

In Premier League terms, it'll barely make a dent. But, that said, you wouldn't have thought we'd get much change out of £5-6m, in terms of wages and loan fees. You've always got to put an asterisk against his displays with his personal issues - but his performances on the pitch have been embarrassing so far, and look like a prime example of us trying to be....er..er....I think "cute" was the word Mark Hughes used when discussing his budget. If hughes had to get cute with his budget, whu did he spunk 18 million on wimmer? Id have much rather not sent sweeney out on loan (especially considering we were getting Bruno in), and spent that money elsewhere or not at all.

Whyba surprise m he was woeful at las palmas , has had the injury that finished bojan and is known fir a questionable attitude , with a huge personal issue that already sadly existed in his life ,
For a team that lost its two most productive forwards it was a insane gamble and to announce on the club websites it was a sign of ur ambition "take that Arnie " unbelievably stupid then and worse now hang your head in shame CEO .

I cant believe he has played for Real Madrid and PSG but looks so poor ? He looked so off the pace. I went the game and he honestly couldnt of complained if Hughes had brought him off before half time.

When he decided he was switching to 3 at the back, he must have made a conscious decision to invest what cash he had there as he admitted he'd neglected it previously. It's hard to evaluate whether Sweeney could've contributed - we haven't got much to go on, but it doesn't seem like he attracted any Championship loan interest? If Wimmer would have looked competent, don't suppose it would be that much of an issue - but it does become an issue when we're in a position where we spent 95% of the summer money on one position (however neglected it had been previously) ,have sieve-like holes elsewhere and are bottom (again) in the spending table and seemingly have to resort to cutesy Bosmans and loans Would have been interesting to see what the spending would've been without the Arnautovic thing emerging.

I would imagine they also factored in the issues with Ryan's fitness and wanting 3 fit centre backs at all times (that hasn't worked out) they brought in Wimmer almost as a panic buy. If they'd planned earlier and scouted better surely they could have found a better player for less money than Wimmer. The better player bit wouldn't have been difficult at all, from what we've seen of him so far most Championship centre backs are an improvement on Wimmer.

He was great for us that 1st season. Having read a few of your recent posts you appear to be the knicker wetter in chief on here. Oh and completely clueless about the game.

Doesn't deserve to start games right now as both Diouf and Crouch are much better options! I really don't think he will be here next season, not because he doesn't want to, but because we won't sign him. He is too weak and where is this pace some people were speaking about?

Clueless about the game? I know rubbish when I see it. I've only been watching Stoke since the sixties! Muppet. Johnson has been a has been for a long time. One season and that's it. Happy with that. I think you are the tool. He is f'ing garbage. Do you watch the games, or just come on here insulting people? P.S. He was injury prone at Liverpool. I (in reality) never expected anything else when he came here. Right again, methinks!

I agree central striker is not his position but Hughes has played him there so the poster is correct. The point in him playing there is so we have more creativity on the break, which works against top teams (Utd/Arsenal). Hughes is wrong to play him there in other games. For the general point of whether he should be playing, I think his play in the Saints game merited a start, and he's unlucky that Shaq came back quickly, and Choupo is seen to be a bit undroppable. If he plays like he did vs Saints regularly, then Shaq/Jese/Saido would be the best front three for games where we're going to see more of the ball.
