All you need to know is that the moment it became apparent that Dean was going to let him off, the Chelsea bench immediately called the players over to sub Alonso. Dean bottled it, Conte knew it and knew wouldn't do it a second time.

I suspect that the old if he didn't see it he can't give it argument will be used to justify not showing a second yellow to Alonso, the speed with which he was subbed indicates that Conte also thought it was. For me the biggest gripe with officials is consistency of approach within a game. Today Shaqiri was rightly and quickly carded for confronting the linesman, no argument so far, but when Dean awarded a free kick to Stoke just outside Chelseas box he was surrounded by 9 of their players all getting in his ear and surprise surprise not a card in sight, this seems not an isolated incident involving the wealthier clubs and adds to the perceived bias in their favour.

He got booked ,then took out Diouf and when they were taken him off ,we had a throw and he threw the ball away another yellow
