Yep. I think you're spot on. His tracking back was pathetic, he got tight to the ref on one of his jog backs and that was the closest he got to anyone on his many walk backs. I spent the first half watching him without the ball and he's diabolical. Watch it back and you will see a guy aimlessly saunter back, and stop while nowhere near a man. He never spotted any of their players making runs either. He can look ok when he going forward but even then he loses possession. He's not up to this level, his occasional surges forward completely negated by the glaring weaknesses in his game. He'll never play consistently for Stoke. No wonder Porto got rid Just a hunch, but I am guessing you weren't a fan to begin with? Not really but I've become increasingly frustrated with him. Did you watch the game last night, if not I suggest you do and keep a close eye on him. It was shocking especially from a lad that should be doing everything to impress

If Torino don't offer a reasonable fee I would be happy to give him another chance but we need another good defensive midfielder...or convince joe allen to be more disciplined alongside fletcher.
We need two holding midfielders anyway and my preference would be to sign another one

Hope this goes through for the player as he definitely needs a different footballing environment to flourish in at this stage of his career. I've always been a bit of a Torino fan so would be good if he turned into a world-beater for them!

He can only work in the English game as part of a midfield three where the other two are prepared to make up for his lack of defensive nous - say, with Fletcher and Cameron. That means sacrificing Allen and Bojan in exchange for his half a dozen forward bursts, often down blind alleys, a game. I am not convinced he has shown himself to be worth the effort, to be honest. It pains me to agree with this which is such a shame as he's got bags of talent but seemingly only for about 40% of his responsibilities as a midfielder. If they haven't drilled into him any sense of defensive urgency by now then it ain't going to happen, sadly. Love watching him pick up the ball and wondering what he's going to do next but his token backtracking (aka jogging 4yds behind his opponent) is soul destroying to watch...

Opening post has to be a fishing exercise, so I'll bite! He was at fault for their first goal, as was Pieters leaving Wollscheid with 2 on 1 - never going to be a good result.
He wasn't good going forward either, constantly taking the space, slow passes, hollywood shots from 35 yards out, running into people and falling over, I could go on.
Sooner he is gone and Stoke have money to spend the better.

Mark Hughes said that he was impressed with his start to the season or something along those lines also.

Imbula has footballer dartitis, he just can't release the ball. He effortlessly glides past players and just when your team mates make themselves available for the pass, Imbula will turn 360 degrees with the ball stuck to his left foot and then glide past another couple of players before being dispossessed. On top of that he has absolutely no awareness of any defensive responsibilities. In the first couple of months of his arrival you could see the natural ability and hoped he could be honed into a Ya Ya type midfield player, unfortunately you can't coach awareness.

I think Imbulas problem was we all THOUGHT he was this defensive midfielder who would replace N Zonzi When in reality, he's still so young and learning the game himself, he has bags of room for improvement. Anyone with eyes can see, his strength is making players look fucking stupid by effortlessly gliding past them. His weakness is defending. Ok... No biggy. All players have weaknesses. Deploy him with a defensive midfielder behind him and let him be the play maker. Not necessarily as a 'number 10' but a player who wants the ball and can get us moving from the middle. Currently we're looking like we'll start with Fletcher and Allen. 2 wingers. A number 10 Then Berahino Thats fine, but who gets the number 10 role will be so.. so important this season. I suspect Bojan will get first dibs and a run in the team, if it doesn't work out well... Then I'd imagine there's a place up for grabs Cmon G... Work your balls off to get in this side! Absolutely spot on.
