Bring it on ! Will you be fit to play Cheees ? How are the wrigglers doing ? Yeah I'll have a run out for the final fling. Touch and go whether I'll be out though. The wrigglers are nuts mate. I can feel them now, apparently 3/4 mil. A particularly sadistic nurse videod them on my phone when watering them today. I havn't dared look, but will watch the 'film' when it's over. There's a review on monday to see whether there's need for another course. If not then would you believe it it's on to honey treatment. It really does feel medaeval, like a Templar being treated for a battle injury. I get the feeling I could have done this mesen, saved a bed, saved the NHS some dosh. It's a funky journey and got to say the ladies love the maggots, not been paid such attention for a good while. Made me laugh this am, a top consultant tried to keep a straight face doing the ward round... admonishing a gaggle of giggling nurses.... " call them larvae, it's larvael treatment... they're larvae from Wales..." At which point everyone just broke.......

Don't think I could tolerate the sensation if you can actually feel them "going about their business" ! Does it still smell ? It's not manuka honey is it ? Bloody expensive stuff or so I'm told.

They stink mate, and leak goo like feck but I'm insisting on daily outer dressing changes. I've checked and Lynx won't affect them (through the dressing) so they're getting regular Italian showers. They're wriggling and stinging like heck as I type... not a chance of sleeep toneet. I've started to get about a lot better on crutches and a mate's wheeled me about a bit in a chair today.. I'm quite the celeb in certain areas of the hospital (there's a few of Wreckitrob's former George Hotel mates knocking about, they love it.) Not sure Maggot Man is quite the name I wish to be known as though! Not sure about the honey, but no doubt some specialist shit that the hosp will be charged a fortune for. I could provide it, got jars of real local stuff at home. Did I mention larval treatment is 400 quid? Have to avoid putting weight on them so as not to crush 'em.

That name could stick you know, especially on the Oatie ! You did say your little friends were £400 quid a pop, that's why I thought it might be manuka honey as that's bloody expensive as well, although as you say no doubt the NHS will be paying some exorbitant price for it - maybe Scholesy negotiated the price I have to say the wrigglers experience sounds horrendous ! Sleep well !

I've just had a look on the internet at larval therapy. I wish now that I'd done the research before breakfast. Hope that your wound is not as "interesting" as the ones on display.

As I say I really don't want a look until the job is done. Might dent my psychological strength. A photographic record has been kept for parties and giggles afterwards. It's under me heel, awkward to see thankfully, and there are loads of distractions...

Well, you're a LOT braver than I am, Fel - I haven't got a clue about anything to do with macrons (the new name on 'ere for maggots) as a hospital treatment so I don't know what you lot are talking about - and, being of a very delicate disposition, I intend to keep it that way. But it sounds as though Cheesy is slowly being eaten?! Can't wait till they bring the leeches in. Then the Paraguayan cannibals to really finish the job.

I was reading about HG Wells being deeply affected by his short stay in SOT. 1888. 'The Time Machine' and 'The Cone'(which was going to be a larger work) both based here, as indeed were his alien invaders based on the Shelton Bar blast furnaces in WotW.
And interestingly though a little later about a well attended exhibition tennis match at Basford Tennis Club in the 1930's between Fred Perry and Bunny Austin.
Love deuce.
That's all a bit incidental, big news is I'm now opposite a young lad who is the spitting image of Marco A. The nurses have relied so far on the tried and trusted method of shouting to effect communication. He nodded when asked if he likes football, with a two finger kicking gesture from me... and the first smile and spark of engagement when I said "you look like Marco Arnautovic..." Romanian apparently so it's not he.
