No time to arrange loans until January. FIFA changed the loan rules last year so they now have to be done during the transfer window. I stand well and truly corrected

Looks like Bursik was an unused sub for England U18s in a 0-0 draw with Brazil.
And Tymon was an unused sub for England U19s in a 7-1 win against Poland

I think Waddington has got a loan to Dundee, though I've seen nothing to confirm that on-line. I was very impressed by St Pauli and I think it would be a fantastic loan for any of the u23's, the club though seem to want assurances the lads will play and I'm not sure any of the Stoke boys are yet at a level where they would be guaranteed a start in that team.

This is from back in April, dunno if it's been on here before, not seen it. Basically a few minutes to do with an academy we've set up in Shanghai. Our bit starts on 19 mins. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p050hpq0

Joe Bursik played in the first half for England U18 against S Africa at Leek in a friendly. England lost 2-1, with England giving a number of players game time.
The U19 play tonight with Tymon in the squad at Mansfield.

Tymon starting for England U19 v Germany U19 Is that Leko lad from West Brom? He looked handy from a couple of glimpses from last season.

Tymon appears to have played the 90 mins. Lost 3-1, 2 down in 3 mins and conceded in 101 min. On the mansfield twitter he was injured early in the second half but 'gingerly' returned but seemed to have finished the game.

Stoke City U18s drew with Liverpool 2-2 at Clayton Woods yesterday. Nothing on the Stoke website about this, but a report on the Liverpool website which gave no information about Stoke of course. This is a poor reflection on the Stoke City staff.

Can someone (more knowledgeable than myself) please explain in more detail about this decision which seems quite significant. Am I right in thinking that this is indicative of the the lack of impact Academy's are having in terms of players making it with the clubs who are investing in them. Does this validate TP's analysis (if I am right in my interpretation) that these Academy's are not worth the trouble. Ultimately, they seem to be a charitable act on behalf of these clubs rather than an investment. i.e they will end up producing players who will make good with lower division pro teams and semi pro-clubs ranging from Div 2 to Evo-Stik and the likes of Leek Town, especially if any occasional young starlets are just creamed off by bigger clubs anyway?

I'll never understand people saying academies are not worth it. Where do they think players come from? Do they just appear at 25, fully formed and immediately at their peak?

Ireland and Afellay must be getting close to at least a sub appearance in a game like this?

Ireland and Afellay must be getting close to at least a sub appearance in a game like this? You'd hope Afellay would get some minutes soon, as we could do with him as another option for a central midfield not exactly bursting at the seams with alternatives to Fletch and Joe.
