Just spoke to a neighbour who said hes been going Stoke since 78. That alone must tell you hes seen the worst in OUR HISTORY. He said hes had a season ticket for 39 years but isnt bothering next season and hes one of the fans who hasnt bothered turning up the majority of this season after xmas cause weve been shit.
What the fuck. Hes not even going Arsenal. " prefer watch it on the box at home". No way are we this bad. " IM SICK OF GOING GAMES AND SEEING THE AWAY FANS LAUGH at our loss" Im sure weve only lost about 5 at home, against top 6 the majority of the time. He was talking like this is his the lowest point in our history. Open your fuckin eyes some of you jeezzz.

If he thinks this is the lowest time in our history, he needs to get checked out.

Money talks, do you think Benitez spent a season in the championship due to his love of Newcastle? It all depends on the ambition of the board and whether or not they want to spend the money.

I've been going since 1963 so saw the joys of the 70's and was there throughout the times in the lower leagues when we were absolute rubbish and lived on hope, but I can honestly say, I have never been so fed up of things. It is just downright boring in every way. Yes I have renewed but because it is part of my life, and things will change, sometime, either good or bad.
Even in the bad times, there was passion, atmosphere and a sense of belonging. Now, it is just emptiness. What a great moment when Walters crossed to Crouch for the goal against Hull. From 20 home games (inc the losing cups) that is just my only highlight this season as it meant something after our losing run. Sad, very sad that the "match" that we all look forward to is usually a boring letdown.
I can understand the OP's neighbour

Huh, comeagain? Worse than Millwall 2-0, Wigan 4-0. I think your neighbour has spent all weekend glue-sniffing.

Watch on stream these days having done my stint. Stoke through and through and of course an eternal optimist. This time next year ........ 😉

He should think himself lucky. Despite going to a few games in 82-83 and 83-84 my first season ticket was the holocaust season.
Apart from the health and wealth of me and my family nothing would stop me from going to watch the Mighty Potters whilst the alternative is always a trip to IKEA or the Trafford Centre.....

Folk will have their own self justifications for not wanting to put the effort in.
Shame he doesn't want to continue the journey. Harsh commercial reality is there's a waiting list for his seat.
Is it a good view?

Even in the bad times, there was passion, atmosphere and a sense of belonging. Now, it is just emptiness. It's just marketing, branding, sponsorship, hype and foreign millionaires living in another City/County. No wonder it feels empty.

But when you take into account the whole Premier League circus and every shitty, fake plastic thing that goes with it, and you can see why the motivation to carry on could go missing for some.

Anybody who tells me they are no longer going and give a bollocks reason like that then I find myself having no time to talk about stoke or football in general with them
I just give basic replies to anything they say

He's been going 39 years but this is worse than losing 7 at home to brum. Or losing at home to Grimsby, Vale, Millwall etc etc. Hammered away at Luton, Oxford Wigan etc etc... what a load of bollocks

Are you sure he didn't say 39 months?

Living a long way from Stoke this really cheeses me off as I can't get a season ticket I try to go when I can.
When I came up for the Hull game there were literally 6 seats over the whole stadium still available and when I checked for returns just before the game nothing available,
Then once in the stadium loads of empty seats.
I love coming to games 3-4 games a season with a friend and it's becoming increasingly difficult to get seats together because no one sends there unused tickets back.

Tis hard to see why we have so many disgruntled fans and they seemed to have turned on the club at the same time and at a time where we are not doing terribly.
My theory is because it is 1 of the most frustrating times to be a Stokie. We were so close to a brilliant side, we had great foundations to build on and we have the backing of our chairman - what could possibly go wrong: Quality sold and replaced by average signings or dodgy characters or in some cases not even replaced at all(see defence), add that to the failure to replace dad's army over the last 5 or 6 windows and it leaves a lot of us feeling like we are hurtling head first toward another possible 23 years of exile, at a time when it seemed harder to actually feck things up. The powers that be seem to be glaringly unaware of any issues and we have even been told that we are, indeed, NOT THAT BAD.
Hughes has a great record at Stoke, so I can see why the chairman would want to give him a chance, but we are regressing big time at the moment and I don't mind saying that Hughes worries the feck out me - and a few others.

I beat you by about 18 months when I attended my first game and I've been a season ticket holder since 74 (no I don't want a medal). My comments are not "bandwagon" comments, good friends who are also season ticket holders can tell you that I (personally) have not enjoyed the last two seasons. Being consistent in my opinion. Yes there have been a few remarkable performances but on the whole (IMHO) our style of play is not entertaining and we tend to turn up (and not all) for 45 minutes out of every 90. I too can understand others judgement to say enough is enough. It's becoming a habit for me which can easily be broken. If it does it will be sad day.

I have been supporting since August 1963 when the first game that season was Spurs. We won 2-1 after being 1-0 down at halftime. I am appalled that some think we are shit to be honest, we must support the team through thick and thin. We have been there. We are 12th we may finish 16th this season but let's carry on supporting than just stay at home. Trust in Pater Coates.
