It was guttural, spontaneous and defiant. Never known anything like it. No doubt that it drove the 10 men on to victory.

This thread should be pinned to the top for all time.
Whenever we get a little down, critical and/or negative, we can give it a read and remember the power we can have!

I only got to a few games that season because I’d moved 300 miles away just before promotion.
I remember the Middlesbrough home game being similarly raucous, especially towards the end of the second half. It felt like we played a genuine part in the victory, especially with us getting a late winner. Was a proper wall of noise.
What’s funny is some European teams seem to be like that for most of the 90 minutes, every game. It almost doesn’t matter what’s happening on the pitch. Split away stands out because that lot just didn’t shut up. It appeared to be a combination of intense national pride – makes sense in the context of Croatia – and love of their football club.

Duckling - you should also check out 'let's all do the Wenger' and the games against Liverpool. In one of them, there was a superb rendition of 'Ricardo Fuller, City's number 10" with an old pisshead leading the charge on the TV. The game against the scouse on Boxing night was another game never to forget. Late kick off, fans full of ale, 0-1 down within 90 seconds, Suarez the antichrist, flares and it finished 3-1 for Stoke. I was home for that one and it was mint. My daughter learned many new words. Something smaller but similar to the roar took place in the first half when the players were chasing Liverpool down all over their box. It was an appreciation of the crowd for the effort our inferior team were putting in to match Liverpool on a special day. We destroyed them 6-1 but the Boxing Day game remains my favourite. That Liverpool game is one of my favourite ever. Would love to watch it again. For me that’s perfect football. We passed, pressed, went long, went short, used the wings everything.

One of the strangest things I've ever known as a Stoke supporter was that spontaneous, visceral roar. There was no leader to start it; it just exploded from the crowd as if we were all tuned in to the same unknown wavelength. It was truly fabulous.
OS.

Yes the 80th minute roar was fantastic but if anyone could share a clip of Wilkinson going through SWP after the ref had blown his whistle for a red card, all hell broke loose between the players and Wilkinson casually walks away as if he'd done nothing wrong and he gets away scott-free - that would make my day.

Equally as spontaneous, a couple of years later Block 19 inexplicably spent the second half thinking they were a male voice choir.

I've been watching Stoke for nigh on 70 years and I can honestly say that I've never experienced anything so primeval. I've known individual moments that were more intense, but nothing like that. It began spontaneously in the 80'th minute and continued until the final whistle. You had to be there to understand because you could never fathom what it was like unless you had. I was almost 70 at the time and this stupid old fart had tears running down his face and my old legs were shaking while it was going on. I had a sore throat for a week after. Silly old fool. OS. Primeval or in some cases evil, I hadn't noticed it until that video was posted.....and it really does make the hairs on the back of the neck stand up. I always think of the game against Tottenham in which Gomez near enough ended up in tears at the noise coming from the stands. Makes you realise just what an atmosphere we had not so long ago, and that it would be like that again with a little bit more of something we have been missing recently. Some pride & some flight

Ladies and Gentlemen, enjoy Got tears starting to run down my face, at the time I lived in Limassol, Cyprus. I watched the game on my own, could've gone the pub with my Dad, but it would've been full of Man U fans, every Tele Man U. Stoke match on 1 Tele, wouldn't be able too hear commentary. Just stayed home in my bedroom, Stoke match full blast, atmosphere, unbelievable.

Agree with the sentiments expressed here. Out of nowhere and incredibly intense. My Dad, 80 at the time and unbeknown to us at the time starting to suffer from dementia, was up on his feet, roaring away. The only moment to rival it for me was when Stuart Pearce scored his penalty in the shoot out v Spain in 1996 and ran over to our side of Wembley and released his pent up feelings since 1990.

Ladies and Gentlemen, enjoy Ah great... watched that 3 times. Now I'm going to have to watch the FA Cup semi a few times, Steino's goal at the Vale in 93, Tony Kelly's equalizer at Anfield... could be a late night..

I just remember my nephew who’d only be 8 or 9 just looking round with his mouth open, wondering just what on earth was happening. We had our season tickets just behind the away dugout and you could see the Man City subs just looking round.
Noise. Just a wall of noise.
Hugging complete strangers at the end of the match.
Wonderful.

I’ve never experienced anything like it before or since. It wasn’t even chanting, just guttural noise for 10 minutes. Man City visibly wilted. Like 23 years of frustration and local pride.
We will do this again someday I’m sure.
One day we will be back.

It was an amazing moment, probably never to be seen or heard again. I've never been as proud to be a Stoke fan as I was that season. Voted the loudest and most feared ground for away teams to visit I believe.

Ladies and Gentlemen, enjoy This is honestly just epic. Andy Griffin. Danny Pugh. Sonko. Down to ten. If ever a result can be attributed to supporters it’s this one. 12th man wasn’t a myth. It was very real. PS the goal from Beattie was sensational. Possibly the best headed goal I ever saw Stoke score.
