The decision yesterday by Hughes to replace Walters with Whelan has to be one of the worst since we became a premier league club and one the previous incumbent got rightly slaughtered for it on a regular basis. We totally conceded ground to them as soon as it happened which allowed them the ball more to feed in their better players. Then to compound this Erik's defending for their winner was nothing short of scandalous for a seasoned professional. Having said all that we should have been 2 up with Charlie's miss and then Mignolet's great save from Berahino but it just seems at this moment in time everything is going against us.The manager needs to settle on a team for the remaining games and stick with it which is something he's failed to do all season and also accept that on occasions he gets it wrong. Big decision for the Coates family is coming but I heard a few snippets yesterday that they'll give him another transfer window(which I wouldn't) and then until October next season if things continue as they are now.

I missed last weeks show due to family commitments, but I listen to the podcast and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The natives are getting restless on the Oatcake , and even Grant is getting another kicking for not doing better for the second goal... ( No I haven't made it up , honest ) ....😀
Can I just ask you both if you think Hughes should go at the end of the season if results don't pick up? or given another chance.

Ideally Hughes should go now but realistically and practically it will be the day after the last game of the season. I lost confidence in him quite a few weeks ago and nothing that has happened since has made me change my opinion. He appears to have no game plan or tactics, no idea of team formation, doesn't know what is his best team, who/when to substitute and always trots out the same rubbish after yet another abject performance. He has overseen the creation of an ageing, unbalanced, slow, toothless, lethargic team and squad.
We should hopefully just have enough to survive this season, and then a massive rebuild job is required on the team/squad and I have no confidence in him to oversee the required changes.
If he is still in charge next season WE WILL BE RELEGATED !
HUGHES OUT !!!

Good evening lads and lasses.
- Mind numbing football. - Completely baffling subs and a complete inability to turn a game. - Playing favourite players over other good performers at any cost. - Not giving young players any kind of consistent run of games. - Wouldn't know his best team if it slapped him on the backside. - Can't accept fault. - One of the lowest scoring teams in the league. - Bottling 1-0 leads and defending at all costs. - Slow but sure decline over 2 seasons.
Sounds somehow familiar?
Hughes. Out

Another 3 points thrown away, the club is a mess. We have lost the direction. We never look like scoring. Hughes has simply built a team of individuals, I was watching Leicester earlier and boy I wish we could attack with that much power and surge. It's genuinely starting to feel like another QPR though. What annoys me is that Hughes has the nerve to say we have faced tough opposition and he puts the blame on the fixtures! Will the man admit his flaws? I want a change in the summer, I'm not sure what Ange and Russ think. Although, it would be silly to sack him NOW. I don't trust Hughes to rebuild in the summer. I'm calling for either Marco Silva or Wagner. My motm from Saturday: Bruno

Also. even if we win against Hull then it might do the club damage in the long run. You know that PC will keep him. He will take us down come next season. As I said weeks ago, if he's here in the summer, we WILL do a Villa.

A strategic review of all aspects of the Club - from the very top to the very bottom - is essential. Then change is required to build a sastainable future.
Let's start with the first team football:
- an unbalanced squad; - an unfit team (not as fit as most other teams); - a shortage of pace; - an higher level of players unavailable on a regular basis than should be the case - bad luck or bad management if fitness and injuries; - an ageng team of first team regulars of players that the manage keeps turning towards; - an ageing squad? - recruitment of players and then the disregard of many - Bony, Imbula; Bojan, Wollscheid, Joselu; - strange substitutions and - the dropping of players after MOM performances such as Shobi and Muniesa;
- I am told we haven't scored a goal in the final 25 mins of a game or - beaten a top team; - formation being chopped and changed at times in apparent desperation and not by planning.
and that is just off the top of my head. So a change is needed at the head of the football team.
Then we can start to look at everything else at the Club and clearly changes is needed throughout but that is enough for now.

Regarding Shaqiri, although he had a decent game- I'll reserve judgement on him until he can string a run of 3 games together or play's for 90 minutes.

The sudden disappearance of Bardsley and Affalley is also something that a lot of fans are scratching their heads at.Like Muniesa the other night players just seem to appear for a rare appearance then disappear again

Why aren't the club hierarchy answering questions for bringing in a transfer team that clearly aren't up to the task?
Many Failed signings Big spending No replacement of british players after many seasons of it being apparent
Whats the plan? We are rudderless top to bottom

we need to use the summer to rebuilt and hit the ground running not make a change in October after another rubbish start this is a result driven business you cannot look back to last season or 2 seasons ago. its about building and moving forward and keep moving forward

I can only take so much of this. Ange doesn't know the difference between a discussion and seeing who can batter the other person into silence first. By the age of 8, most people have given up on shouting I DON'T CARE over and over again when somebody points something out to them.
Russell Dutton has the patience of a saint. Most other people would turn up after the first week with a gag.

I thought that playing 3 in midfield would've been better against Liverpool, Cameron Allen and Imbula. The 442 has no creativity, its all in wide areas and we were lucky Liverpool decided to play the first half with their hands tied behind their backs. We're not good enough in midfield to have two there. Saido did well, as did Shaq and surprisingly Johnson. 3 in midfield vs Hull please.
With regard to the Whelan sub, they were storming through our midfield as easy as anything at that point, and we needed to shore up the midfield. As it happened, it didn't work, I view that as Whelan's issue rather than Hughes.

Good evening
Re moving players on - It needs to happen.
A big concern :-
Too many players who are being bought to "move us on" don't get game time - so potential new signings may not want to come here?
Surely some problems behind the scenes that need addressing?

If even the deluded Russ thinks Hughes should go then the man's history at the end of the season. 😀.. Russ is starting to transform himself into Ange Mark II .. The show is better when you both argue with each other. So c'mon Russ say something positive for god's sake .We were safe a month ago so stop worrying.

Huge game versus Hull. I am worried that we will just carry on in the same vein as previous performances and it will turn very nasty if we go behind. Hopefully we can show some commitment and organisation, but I think we will ultimately lose 1-2.

Remaining fixtures - a lot of the teams around us have at least 2 games against each other - we have 5 ! Hull, West Ham, Swansea, Bournemouth, Southampton!
So several of our rivals are guaranteed improved total points!
We need a win = 39 points and I think we will be safe
The sooner we get something the better
Trippier etc would be looking at the likes of Everton / Southampton before us imo

From info found elsewhere on the Oatie - The “Ceramic City Clipper” was the brainchild of Derek Hodgson, who was a freelance journalist doing some work at The Vic in the late 60’s. The “Clipper” was a reference to a “periodical” or “bulletin” which was quite a common reference in journalism circles, and probably still is. Started in 1968 into the 1970's.

I hope not. She's obviously a bag of energy and willing to give up her time to do an often thankless task, so we owe her some thanks. But I'd hate to think she just talks all over anybody who has a different viewpoint until they just give up, like she does on this show.
