Sky Sports taking 100% coverage from 2019 which most saw coming when Sky took 50% four years ago. Like cricket anothera popular Sports bites the dust for millions who can't afford or refuse to subscribe to the murdoch empire. Ecclestone says it's a good deal for F1. Bollocks it's a good deal for F1 teams and ownership but not for the fans it isn't. Back to the opener in Oz, Mercedes fucked up the pit stop strategy bringing Hamilton in far too early and admitting that they over estimated the tyre wear. It brought Hamilton out behind Verstappen who doesn't let anyone past him without a battle. Looks like a promising season ahead though with the apparent Ferrari resurgence.

Why anyone old give two fucks about a 'sport' which consists of a procession of almost identical cars where the winner is decided either before the actual race in practice or by decisions made by people on computers as to when/how often a car should stop, is completely beyond me. It's been a laughing stock ever since they decided too many drivers were getting killed or injured so they effectively banned overtaking, thus removing all the entertainment value in one fell swoop (and I don't mean drivers getting killed )

So incredibly dull. I listen to 5 Live first thing which has been wiped out this weekend. Pre-qualifying Friday, qualifying yesterday and the procession this morning. I get back from my run and the drone of the cars is replaced by the drone of boring Hamilton trying to make it sound interesting. Good luck with that

To me this is not a sport I have Sky and never have or will ever watch this mind numbing shite. Appreciate it's all personal but I find a repeat of Bargain Hunt to be more exciting.

Watch the first 3 laps to see if there's any carnage and the last 2 to see who wins. You're pretty much welcome to the rest.

I agree, it's not a sport just something for rich daddy's boys to do something rather than play footy with mates

Formula One is going to go the same way as that football thing that used to be on, the championship league or whatever it was called.

Greedy little shit Ecclestone has never bothered about the fans, only the dosh of rich countries. New F1 owners hopefully will change things but won't hold my breath. If so many think its shite just don't watch it like I don't bother with horse racing or rugby but don't slate it as plenty folk do like those sports.

I agree with your cricket analogy, take sports off free to view and you make more money but apart from the die hard fans they vanish from the national conscience. And I'm not sure where that leaves the next generation.
I was a keen cricket fan but for me it no longer exists beyond background noise at the end of news items. It's borderline vandalism.

I love F1. Pity they have killed all the excitement with the computer driven cars and the selling of all the races to tracks that are more stadium orientated and offer nothing to the sport in terms of overtaking and speed.
The BEST drivers in the world are supposed to be on show , however only if you have a mummy boy name and a daddy that used to be a driver. Classic example here "Joly good British star Jolyon Palmer is set to take F1 world by storm… but only after passing driving test at THIRD attempt"
Radical changes are needed. Not least the rule I'll call "Right to Drive" where drivers gain an F1 licence by winning F2 etc and not by bringing daddies money or sponsorship money.
Get rid of ergonomics. It's supposed to be a race not a bloody marathon or green party garden fete.
Get rid of the Stadium Tracks and bring back the Traditional circuits. A world sport is being transformed into a globe trotting circus for the rich.
Lastly and most importantly get rid of that puffed up Jock Coulthard he was a failed no2 driver and his anti Hamilton commentary smacks of jealousy.
The best thing that could happen to F1 has happened the man who has single handedly ruined the sport has finally gone, Bernie Ecclestone who would be more suited to running a boy band than a sport. He has sold the sport to any despot with a few dollars destroying the traditional circuits and pricing team ownership out of most peoples range.
As far as yesterdays race goes , I've driven about 10,000 laps on that circuit on my simulator. It's a mickey mouse circuit with no overtaking at the front and as such tells us little about the true state of the cars. Slow tight circuits traditionally favour Ferrari and Red Bull.

Clark, Mansell, Montoya and ofc Ayrton now I'm a Hamilton fan although I've always loved Kimi's attitude to the pits =). Always loved a charger and not the thinking type like Graham Hill, Alain Prost. I know consistency is the key to championships but it's nice to see the fastest man win not the one who uses a bit less fuel and protects his tyres better.

I agree, F1 should not be a game of chess, it should be bollox on the line flat out racing, it's not any more. The best drivers put their life on line and a few lost their lives but that was their choice, they knew the odds and should be aloud to do so. Make the car as fast as possible, no restrictions and let the drivers do what they want to do!

I absolutely adore cars, and Motorsport is one of my favourite things in the world, right up there alongside chicken nuggets and wanking.
But I cannot stand Formula One, I can't be doing with multi-billion pound racing teams all ejaculating everywhere because they've spent £40 million to go a millionth of a millisecond faster, the drivers have no personalities and are just stooges for whichever sponsors they have to pander to, give me touring cars any day when two cars coming together can result in a full on scrap in the sand trap, because those boys really have a passion to win, I'd be the same, if I was challenging for the lead and some cretin sent me into the tyre wall the first thing I'd do after making sure he's still alive would be to shove my crash helmet right up his daft, useless arse.
Can you imagine Hamilton chinning Vettel for mugging him off during qualifying? Can you bollocks, there'd just be some hushed tutting and a few knocked over glasses of Permaine in the pit lane.
A sport for oil barons, ponces, elitist snobs and boring, adenoidal wankers, it's just cricket on four wheels, absolutely unbearable toss.

A decade or so ago I used work for the McClaren group (not automotive unfortunately although my role involved PR and tours of Woking) and I can honestly say they they set out at every level to define the standards. From the smallest part of a hand-made F1 car through to meticulously chosen staff or tiny (black box) electronics etc.. this is what F1 is about and keeps the UK at the forefront of automotive tech etc..F1 takes on physics with a set of parameters to see who can go fastest.
The margins are so narrow (every part of an F1 car is a compromise between performance/reliability) when components are treated to essentially 100% performance 100% of use - no room for compromise.
The latest hybrid cars/advanced aerodynamics/bigger tyres will see a new track record at many GP's this season - F1 is evolution of the species.
Vettel's win and Ferrari competitiveness generally changes the landscape this season - and whilst I agree about the elitist persona of the F1 brand - it is still accessible to many with numerous variables (accidents/safety cars/pits/etc)..but in truth it started out with monied individuals in the 20's/30's racing and other than global corporates swinging their load i'd argue hasn't changed much since 1950.
If you want entertainment - Isle of Man
