Owning to a bit of dicking about in the berahino thread it got me thinking. In a managment game whos been your most memorable signing. To start i will go back to champ manager 93 94 i did a generated season starting as Brighton in div 4 once signed a 17 year old striker called Martin Martin scored on adverage a goal a game for 15 season won everything with the club but never got capped once. Also on champ manager 0102 brought regillo vrede not a bargain but was a mainstay defender in a geordie team i had for ever it seemed

On 93/94 I always used to sign Austin Berkley (an attacking midfielder from Swindon), Tony Sheridan (a right sided midfielder from Coventry) and Ceri Hughes (a left sided midfielder from Luton) Otherwise I'd just start as Luton who had a good team and bring the others in. You could also pick up a young Robbie Fowler from Liverpool fairly cheaply. 96/97 was my favourite Championship Manager game, I still own a copy and haven't bothered with any since as there's just too much detail these days. One of the best signings was Peter Smith from Brighton. He didn't look anything special (going from his stats) and he was more of a utility player (D/MRC). For some reason if you played him as the number 8 attacking midfielder in a 5-3-2 he'd score something like 40 goals a season. The only problem with 96/97 is it looks like it expires after 30 seasons. I'm in 2025 now and can't sign any new players as it comes up with a glitch. As of 2025 I've transformed Brighton into some sort of Super Galactico and haven't lost a league game in well over a decade. Attachment Deleted

Keirrison on FM2009 racked up almost 2000 goals (although over 200 were for Brazil) only time I've ever had anything like that across all the management games I've played.

Football manager stole my life, is a great read about the nostalgia of the games from the early 90s and the turn of the century. The joy of finding a gem is ruined now by the ease at which the editors or the internet can provide the answers. I will hold my hand up and say i use fm base and places like that for tactics help but i try and avoid for player tips

On football manager a few years ago, I stuck to only British players with Stoke. Could never quite make 4th so I signed Khouma Babacar from Fiorentina and all hell broke loose. He smashed Stokes all time top scorer record.

I used to sign Freddy Guarin all the time and Kennedy Bakircioglu in the early 00s. Prior to that there was another Freddy guy (cant remember his last name) I used to sign from Hammerby who was a 18 year old right winger. He turned really good after 6 months.

LMA 2006 - Danny North and Kelvin Langmead, fuck me those pair were the only strikers you needed, absolutely lethal.

Championship Manager 00-01 :
I was Stoke and because they had no budget I was looking around the free agents. Ended up signing a Spanish chap by the name of Onesimo - absolute goal machine.
Also signed Valencia's Mista on loan for Stoke on CM4, another goal machine.
I used to take these games far too seriously, doing press conferences while sat on the toilet and that - oh, to be young again.

Currently I'm doing an online save on Football Manager 2018. Signed Gerard Moreno who I believe we were linked with from Espanyol and he's fucking unreal!
