If someone sat me on the bench and played my Dad and my Grandad then I'd want to leave. That's what we are doing to Bojan and Shaq when we start with Crouch and Walters. In their minds anyway. These guys were brought in to be the future, the way forward, the next level but now they sit and watch Crouch and Walters. You couldn't make it up could you, only in Stoke would this happen. In all honesty they must be thinking "What the F**K am I doing here at worlds end sitting watching this shit" If I was either of them I would be on the phone to China. How do you know whats in their minds?

Its not really a stretch of the imagination that the players on the bench MIGHT JUST be thinking the same thing as us supporters?

Not even any proof that its in most supporters mind. The Oatcake is never a true representation of what the fans think.

If it was you on the bench , what would you be thinking?
I suppose you could use the old argument that they like the money and that may well stand for younger players sitting on a bench at a top club like Chelsea, Man City but when you are sitting on our bench at their age then they have enough money, I suspect and a career with playing time becomes more important.
I haven't seen Bojan complain about "The Money" he is always on about "Game Time" to be fair same goes for Crouch.

You'd hope they'd be thinking shit, I must be playing really toss not to get into this team. I'll buckle down and put some hard training in and when I play i'll make sure I do enough for the manager not to drop me. Unfortunately modern day footballers do not think like that. ANY OF THEM.

Never said they were happy. Bojan wants more playing time which is how it should be and the Shaqiri one is just a rumour like it says.

The Shaqiri story says that hes happy at Stoke. It also says that its watching Crouch and Walters play that is making them unhappy again Bojan is unhappy that he isnt playing regardless of who is. ![(thumbsup)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/q4Mqf5MqRwT9PY8UitYa.gif)

A better thought process might be ' if I improved my game a bit instead of the stuff I've been producing for longer than I care to remember I could get a starting spot here'.

Clear out - needs to be the attitude of too many plyaers. No Fight for the cause in too many. Need a Strong Captain - Charlie Adam would have been ideal a few years ago but too late now. Perhaps that was missing at the back with Huth, not just a walking stick for Shawcross but a more robust and assertive player.
Out Diof (Not good enough), Shawcross (Can't pass, win balls in the box at both ends, too negative), Whelan (he's gone), possibly Walters not for his work rate but for his poor finishing, Crouch (just too old now), Bojan (Premier league not for him - gets knocked off the ball too easily), Johnson too old,
Jury is out on Shaquiri as he needs a rocket up his backside every 15 minutes by a vociferous Hard Captain.
Scott Dann of Crystal Palace would be ideal to get in if we could and if Palace are in trouble

Would not go for a new year clearout, doubt we'd get the players in time. However come summer I would get rid of: Given(expect retirement) Haugaard Johnson (ageing) Muniesa (too injury prone) Shaqiri( if the money is right, too inconsistent) Whelan( ageing, should be a bit part player from now on) Crouch ( shouldn't be near our team but shows our lack of strikers) Walters ( also shouldn't be in the team) Adam ( too slow, sloppy for the top flight)

Stoke - nine players out of contract this summer Glen Johnson (one further year option) - age 32; Ibrahim Afellay - age 30; Charlie Adam (one further year option) - age 31; Peter Crouch - age 35; Phil Bardsley - age 31; Stephen Ireland - age 30; Shay Given - age 40; Dionatan Teixeira - age 24; Daniel Bachmann (one further year option) - age 22
And some want to get rid of Shaq and Bojan - we will have no one left - mind you he probably still would not play the kids

Would agree with Imbula and Shaq. Need to be prepared to lose a lot of money on them though. Bojan, I would prefer to keep. Not the player he was prior to his injury but in all honesty he has been fucked about by Hughes with his baffling tactics and subs.

I wouldn't move anyone out this January. Given that many of our players are susceptible to injuries, it would be foolhardy.
There's a brilliant player inside Imbula if Hughes can get it out of him. That remains to be seen. He's not a defensive midfielder. Allen should play that role alongside Whelan or Cameron when fit, but a top class defensive midfielder is a must-buy soon.
We need Bardsley to cover for Johnson.
Bojan, despite still getting over his cruciate ligament injury, is still one of our better ball players and has a good footballing brain. (So, he made an error for their 3rd goal. If we got rid of players for individual errors then we'd have no players left.)
Shaqiri needs to up his game, but he's wasted when playing a set role on the right. Along with Bojan and Autonovic, those three should be licensed to interchange, just as they did against Man City last season. Between them they have so much talent that they're defenders' nightmares. Hughes should do what Waddo used to do... select them and just tell them to get on with it. Stick Affelay or Imbula just behind those three and you'll see the goals start to come in.
Diouf has proved his versatility. Keep.
Bony. Off.
Crouch. Keep to end of season. He's been a great servant but is coming to the end of his tether.
Adam. Off in the summer.
Ireland. Yesterday's man.
Walters. Time to be a squad player.
Haugaard. Goodbye.
Given. Keep to end of season.
Muniessa. Love the guy to bits but he's too injury prone. Off in the summer?
Sobhi. He's not played enough yet to make a proper judgement on his capabilities. One for the future methinks.
Just my twopennyworth.
OS.

I'd say that's a fair assessment OS, however if Hughes is going to persist with this 3 at the back fun and games then I'm hoping to see two new fullbacks who are actually capable of running at speed with a football in their possession, and not either fall over their own pipe or get that excited when they reach the opposition area that they smash their cross out for a throw in before collapsing from Vertigo.

I don't post very often but I travel to every home and away game so I need to air my views which may be controversial. For me the three players that should lead the exit door in January are Bojan, imbula and surprisingly shaqiri. Bojan not the player he was and no room for him in the team ahead of Allen,Chelsea's 3rd goal 15 seconds after we get back on level terms all down to him taking the ball across the box and losing possession. He's had plenty of chances to stake his claim in the team and simply not taken it! Imbula can play when he shows interest but simply not good enough in possession and tracking back, 18 million spunked by MH, if we can recoup close to that abroad get rid as he's not suited to the premier league type of football we play. Shaqiri is no doubt an outstanding player when he turns up, however having one worldly game, followed by two or three poor games and then injuries is a luxury we can't afford at this level. We need consistent performances he simply doesn't give. If we can get the money back we paid then I'd let him go. Bojan and imbula walking straight off the pitch after the final whistle without bothering to acknowledge the fans not good enough for me and pissed a lot of fans off. I'll probably be slated for my comments but just my opinion!! Them players will stay and are very important to mark and his team.

Yea you would like to think they are asking what they're doing on the bench, but you'd also like to see a positive reaction when they do get on the pitch. Last couple of times they've been crap, especially Imbula and Shaq. You must have Ramadan looking at Shaq and wondering how the fuck he's on the pitch!!! Shaq goes to ground more often than my 6 year olds home made kite.
