Good game and a close finish, but I thought Imperial deserved to win. It's been a good series throughout. As usual a couple of stand-out teams, the majority were quite good, and a few who were too limited in their own subjects to stand any chance and were well beaten.
I also think Paxman has had his day now. He just sounds utterly bored with it all.

Imperial have been the most consistent team throughout and deserved their win. My alma mater were knocked out in the quarter finals.

An outstanding final, with no Oxbridge college for a decade and the closest result in a very long time.
The right team won, unbeaten all series. If Reading had won we would still be left wondering who was best.
The graphene man, Geim, came across as the nutty professor.
I used to sponsor an Imperial chemical engineering student for industrial experience each year a long time ago, and visited each year. It was disappointing how many undergraduates gave up on the subject, a number going into "the city" where their brains were valued by the finance companies.

There seem to be a plethora of favourites for the job, depending which article you read. Fiona Bruce and Sandi Toksvig are the current leaders, with Amol Rajan (BBC journalist apparently) just behind, and even Richard Osman further back in the betting.

I was half there. He ticks the BAME box. He's good choice I'm not saying he isn't,it's just the inevitability of it all. The BBC have got a head of diversity now and seem obsessed with ticking boxes which is going to lead to over representation rather than proportional representation if they're not careful. Just look how advertising is going.

Just look how advertising is going. I posted yesterday that he was just behind Bruce and Toksvig in the betting, but as you say it was fairly inevitable due to the Beeb's obsession with box ticking. It remains to be seen how well he fits into the programme, no doubt 5 minutes into the first show Paxman will be a distant memory.

28 bloody years, christ where's that gone!. I know he's been diagnosed with Parkinson's but I thought that Paxman had been looking decidedly bored with it for the last few years. Still it's a nice, steady little earner isn't it.

12 questions right for me tonight vs the other half's 4.
I do enjoy getting all the music ones right when those so called clever people haven't got a clue.
