I know Fornside has given an explanation of how Sammy cannot be transferred until June, but if this was the case then why was Bossie commenting on the likelihood of a January sale in the Sentivale?
A very strong rumour is that a deal has already been struck by Fulham. I wouldn't put it past the Board if the figure was attractive enough, but it would be a somewhat backward step and not viewed as ambitious by many fans.

Victorious, as I haven't seen the Sentinel story I can't comment. When was the story and do you have a link to it?

DON'T SELL SAM Next Story | Previous Story | Back to list 3 readers have commented on this story. Click here to read their views. BY MARTIN SPINKS
09:36 - 13 December 2005 Stoke City would be mad to make a quick killing on Sammy Bangoura by selling him in the January transfer window.
That's the verdict of boss Johan Boskamp as he faces up to the possibility of a tempting offer landing at Stoke's door within the next month. Bangoura's potent start to life at the Britannia leaves him one match short of equalling Mike Sheron's club record of scoring in seven successive games.
But Boskamp, who persuaded the club into a record £900,000 purchase for the eight-goal striker earlier this season, says: "I don't think we will let him go in January, it wouldn't be good.
"He is maybe only 50 or 60 per cent capacity, so he can get better. And we already know how valuable he is with his goals.
"But everything can change so quickly here at Stoke. Not long ago, people were telling me after two games that he costs us £500,000-a-game. Maybe they are thinking a bit different now."

Where on there does it say anything remotely about Stoke even thinking of selling Sammy?
Just the usual sentivale spin to unsettle the fans and the club by spouting off the usual bollox in the hope of selling a few more papers.
Just a shame some people fall for it time and time again!

This is the ultimate "non news" story isn't it? The person who has speculated on the liklihood of a bid coming in is Martin Spinks (who probably doesn't know the rules about players signing for three clubs in a year). Bozzie has said he doesn't think Sam Bang would be allowed to leave.
From this the Sentivale have manufactured a story and victorious thinks it suggests Sam Bang is going to Fulham? ;D

Beat me to it, forno. Pure speculation indeed and a classic example of the best of Sentivale sport (judging by what I've read online).

Not even a Stoke board would hope to get away with selling the club's new goalscoring hero after 4 months - especially when he's under contract until at least Summer 2008 with the option of another.
And when you add the fact that Sammy's unproven, the African Nations Cup,and the problem of the FIFA regulations which would seem to stop him playing until next season,I don't think we need to lose any sleep over a possible departure...well at least until June

A friend of my dads went to the Holiday Inn (next to the m6) at the weekend and was talking to Boscamp. He told him that it was a done deal with Fulham.
The friend and his wife went back to the Holiday Inn for lunch yesterday and the waitress that served them was also serving them with coffee at the time of the conversation. She confirms that Boscamp had told them that the deal for Bangoura to move to Fulham had been done.

Is this the same weekend when Boskamp was scouting Belgium and Holland for new players? ??? Perhaps it was Boskamps doppelganger - now there's a scary thought

So, you have never heard the Club say one thing and the opposite happen then?
Whilst I understand that the Sentival have a habit of sensationalising things, it is unlikely they have actually quoted someone falsely. Summising and quoting are two totally different things.
I too would be gobsmacked if it happened, but you can read many things into the recent transfer speculations and Bossies apparent comments.

I wish some fucker would set set fire to The Sentiwank building and print works and do everyone in Staffordhire a fucking favour, obviously in a way that all employees get out safely, but such a good job that it would take a good year or so before that fucking rag excuse of newspaper starts peddling its filth again.

He told him that it was a done deal with Fulham. a variation on someone else's cock n bull story that did the rounds on the oatcake last week, only it was Bangoura himself that told him. This is classic stoke-on-trent Chinese whispers / bar room bullshit , I can't believe some people still believe it or continue to spread it

victorious, there are no false quotes in the Sentinel story. It is just that the story doesn't say what you think it says and doesn't mean what you think it means.
It is the oldest journalist's trick in the book. The Journo asks a question and then prints the story without saying it was him who asks the question. So the story looks more interesting that it really is.
eg. Journo to vicar "Is it true that you beat your wife"?
Vicar "no it isn't, who told you that"?
Sentivale Headline.....
"Angry Vicar denies wife beating allegation".
Gullible people read the story and assume there is no smoke without fire.

A couple of days ago the rumours were that Man. City were after Sam Bang, now Fulham are going to sign him. Why do people feel the need to start these shit rumours? Sam has done fantastic since he signed for us so I'm sure a lot of scouts are keeping an eye on him, That doesn't mean he's going anywhere! The report in the Sent. is typical of their journalism. It's how they fill up the space when there is no real news happening. As for Baggo and his friend's inside information from a waitress that's just bloody daft. Grow up Baggo - you wind up merchant!

Fornie, no vicars mentioned here. But Boskamp, who persuaded the club into a record £900,000 purchase for the eight-goal striker earlier this season, says: "I don't think we will let him go in January, it wouldn't be good. Shouldn't he be saying "let him go in January, get real, no chance!"????? I heard the story of Fulham from a reliable source who heard it first hand on Saturday night. I would be amazed if it were true but who knows with Stoke? Apologies if the message board only deals in absolute factual 100% proven truth and nothing else, I must have been mistaken whislt reading some of the stuff put on here/there. V

Victorious, whatever Bozzie's qualities - and he has many good ones - a great command of English is not one of them. How many times do you hear an interview and think "he could have put that better". The exact words he used to Spinks are irrelevant.
Ask yourself why the player to whom we pay the biggest wages (Sam Bang) also has the longest contract? That is so we can afford to turn down offers in the early years of the contract knowing that there is plenty of time to cash in later if we wish to do so. The decision to offer a long contract (with a 1 year option to extend if we wish) would not have been taken by the board if they were hoping to cash in early.
Sam Bang will be here until nextsummer and it would take a huge offer to prize him away then. Summer 2007 will probably be decision time and it may then depend upon whether we are in the Prem. All this assumes that Sam carries on banging them in like he does at the moment.

Fornie
I don't buy the statement that he can't find the correct words to say Sammy will not be leaving. He has enough command of the language to tell us how pi44ed off he was with Rudgey though eh?
I really, really do hope you are correct. Sammy seems to be our best chance of a play off place.

victorious - for the nth time (where n is a very large number). Whatever clubs are after Sam and however large the offer is, no club would be daft enough to sign him in January when FIFA rules say he can't play for another club until the summer.
He'll be with us for the remainder of the season guaranteed.

Victorious. You heard it from a reliable source on Saturday night however you would be amazed if it were true. You really are incredible, make your mind up boy. I really think you are we_are_stoke in disguise or maybe Boskampboys. As far as Fornside saying it is difficult for him to find the right words in his second language, he´s correct. I speak 2 languages and in my second it is sometimes very difficult to find the right words or Phrase, especially when you are under pressure. There will always be speculation over our better players however IMO this is absolute bollocks.
