Karl Henry & Andy Wilkinson offered new deals.
Is it me or does Henry seem to sign a new contract every 6 months?! It must be the third renewal he has had since the start of last season?

Be interesting to see if Karl, especially, accepts a new deal. He still isn't getting the games he deserves in my opinion. How Buxton and Broomes are getting more time on the pitch escapes me.

Time Wilco was given a try...maybe at right back? Is he mobile enough?
Ohhhh...apparantly he's injured..hamstring
Henry offered two more years, Wilco one
Henry has great potential says Rudge (still here?) - how long can he go on saying 'the lad' has potential ???

Wilko looks more competant than Buxton at right back when I have seen him. Buxton looks better at left back though.

How Buxton and Broomes are getting more time on the pitch escapes me. I think you'll find Buxton is currently 3rd in the player of the season poll. Or are you just in one of your "ignoring facts" moods again?

Well I was one of the one's who voted for Buxton. I saw no reason to take the poll seriously. ;D

I really hope I'm proved wrong but I just can't ever see Karl doing anything for us. He isn't exactly getting rave reviews for the reserves is he? He shows glimpses of ability but I'm just not sure he can cut it at this level, at his age (and being fair to the lad) I would think a move would be in his best interests so he can play games. At this stage of his career he has very limited league experience and if he's not careful he could drift out of the game completely if he doesn't play for us during this new contract. Brian Wilson is a prime example, he's been getting plenty of games at Cheltenham and scored a blinding free kick last night and although he's two divisions lower his stock is now higher than Karl's is.

He doesn't actually play that many games for the reserves these days does he? It is how he plays for the first team that he should be judged. Apart from his display against Hull away, has he had a poor game this season when given the chance? I certainly can't recall any poor games whereas I can recall plenty from Brammer, Broomes and Buxton and Russell.
Incidentally - although many of his games have been as a sub he has actually played over 100 times for us.

Yes of course these polls show complete facts. Some of the posters on here wouldn't know a good footballer if they fell over one. How the fuck in any situation anyone can think Buxton is our 3rd best player is beyond me.

Henry is a decent squad player and usually performs well when called into the squad to cover injury/suspension, illustrated by his recent performance against QPR.
At the end of the 2003-2004 season (just when he'd come back from being on loan at Cheltenham) he had a period of 6-8 games when he played as well as I've ever seen him play, Forest away standing out as a MOM performance. Ever since though, he has struggled to perform well when given a prolonged (by his standards) spell of games.
He is a good option to bring on in games where we are defending a lead as he can hold the ball well and can help to run the clock down.
Maybe if Karl realises that the limit to his talent is as a 'squad player' then he won't mind sitting tight and only playing a handful of games per season. It all depends on his ambitions and if he can honestly believe whether or not he can take his game to another level, something which may result in him deciding that a move away is beneficial and maybe even a backwards step in order to enable him to move forward.
If he is happy to continue as a squad player then we should sign him up.

He just never fills me with any confidence when he does play (that's not to say I prefer to see Buxton, Broomes or Russell as I think we need to improve on all of them). I am not blinkered in that I can't see when he does well, I have also commented on Buxton playing well, it doesn't mean I want him in the team though and that's how I feel about Karl. 67 starts in 5 and a half seasons with 4/5 managers at the age of 23 says he will never play a key role at Stoke City in my opinion. I agree that he is a good lad to have around the squad, but I still think that for his career a move would be best, if he's happy to keep our bench warm then I am happy for him to stay and be a fill in for us.
