Heidar Helguson is on his way to Stoke City in a loan move until the end of the season. He rejected Ipswich, Wolves and Sheffield United.

Actually Im from Iceland with Helgusons contacts. He was very interested in signing for Sheff United but decided to sign for Stoke City because of the clubs continuing interest over the past couple of years.

Very interesting, would love it to come true. Would it be a loan until the end of the season, or just whilst Bang, Bang is away?

Somebody please tell me this is true?.....if we were to get Helguson i feel the play offs would definatley be a realistic target. Not getting my hope up just yet though,i remember going to bed one night thinking George Burley was our new manager only to wake up to the news that he had had a change of heart

Helguson would be an absolutly fantastic signing, unfortunatly things havent worked out for him at Fulham and a loan move would be just the thing he needs at the moment.
He is proven in the league and would make a great partner for Sammy.

I wonder if Helguson could be Boskamp's "second Bangoura" that he has been talking about?

Kolar and Junior are not loaned. They have signed year long contracts with us. Therfore they are Stoke City's players, and not Anderlecht's.
Which means we have two more loan places available.

Is this 100%?? When is the chairman making his statement??

Well by definition it isn't 100% or even 50% until the club announce it. So I won't be holding my breath. I'll remain quietly confident though - as the move does seem to make sense for the player. And if he did go out on loan then Stoke would appear to be likely candidates for his signature - given our long term interest, our Icelandic connection and the fact that Sam Bang's scoring exploits shows Heidar that we are creating scoring chances.

Forny, I'm interested in the "quietly confident" bit of your post, you seem seem positive on the chances of this coming off. It would be fantastic if it happened ;D

jamo - don't get too excited. ;D I know no more than anyone else but (for the reasons I gave above) the story would not surprise me if it came off. With the need to fork out decent money for a left back and possibly another midfielder, a loan striker would probably suit our board better than forking out big money up front. We need a striker whilst Sam is away and for longer if possible - we know Mama's limitations and Siggy needs a lot more time. And I can't think of a loan striker who could be better suited and (probably) available.

As KK would say, I would love it, love it, if Helgusson joined BUT imho a central midfielder and two fullbacks are needed asap. The match on Friday proved we are extremely weak in those departments.
We need a left back desperately - Broomes is garbage.
