I've got two on my car. I've yet to see another vehicle with any on there. I'm no racist, I'm supporting my Country, albeit in a convoluted way... If people don't like it they can kiss my arse.

Haven't been this excited for a tournament in a while...shame it hasn't transpired I genuinely am struggling to contain my excitement...gutted that I haven't heard radio stations playing the songs and shedloads of adverts on tv about it, I've resigned to playing a specific playlist on my iPod on my drive to and from work, but maybe it's a sign this is the year

Whilst I accept your considered response, unfortunately there are a few points that you have been ill-conceived in making. Whilst I admittedly and mistakenly typed OP, it could easily be construed about which post I was referring to as you referred to the correct item. Pedantically incorrect, however the thesis is extant from my point of view. I am the first person person to use the Racism word, not the "R" word, so please do not revert to playground annotations in a faux posturing that we cannot use certain words for fear of offence. I used Racism because that is exactly the connotation you were accusing Werrington of doing in your original response that has now disappeared from the thread. Without trying to sound patronising, you do not have to say the words "you are being racist" to allude to the effect that that is what you accusing Werrington of being, simply by the context of the words you did use, which is a shame. I consider all points of view valid, although i may not agree with all points of view I also understand that you feel the inclusion was not necessary and that is okay. I felt otherwise as described above and a couple of us gave reasoned opinions why we felt so.... Now we can move on! By the way... I think England will do far better than people expect.... As long as it is not to the disadvantage of Germany (although I genuinely think you guys are contenders!) Let us be clear about this matter. I DID NOT nor HAVE NOT accused nor alluded that the poster "werrington" of being racist. I haven't. If you believe that I have, then that is wrong and is your issue and nothing to do with me. I merely questioned as to why the poster chose to include what I thought was an unnecessary extra word in his post. This has since been pointed out to me as to why this was done. Whether I agree with the points raised is up to me and my problem if I choose not to. Once more, I have not accused "werrington" of being racist. Doesn't matter how you wrote it, you're constant questioning until German Stokie so eloquently put you right was to accuse Werrington's post as having a racist slur about it by including the taxi drivers apparent race. Had you not waded into this thread looking for controversy that wasn't there we'd still be discussing flags and not reading your backtracking posts acting all Miss Innocent. You and only you brought Racism into this thread.

You and only you brought Racism into this thread. You're wrong. I do agree with you, however, about GermanStokie's eloquent post. "Constant questioning" - I didn't receive a satisfactory answer after first asking what I believed to be a simple question/point. The reply received was "stop making it into something it isn't"...I wasn't!! "waded into this thread looking for controversy" - I wasn't looking for controversy. Far from it. Controversy is what other people have made it into. "you brought Racism into this thread" - Incorrect. I only questioned as to why the word Asian had been used in a post. Is this bringing racism into the thread? I think not. Indeed, the first occasion racism was mentioned was in GermanStokie's post. It seems that people think that I'm accusing "werrington" of being racist. Once again, I'm not and if you think so, then this is your issue, not mine. I am merely questioning his choice of sentence construction. Look before we keep going around in circles, take a step back and re-read what you have just written. I believe, as have others, that your original question about why the word "Asian" was included has obvious connotations towards race and does contain accusative language leaning towards this. Of course that is our is our opinion and it is as valid as your own. let's rephrase your statement above to put it into context. "It seems that peace believes that his choice of words within the questions are not accusative nor leaning towards the racism card [it is as you keep pointing it out despite reasoned discussion], it was and if peace thinks so, then this is his/her issue [apologies, I do not know you] not ours. I am merely questioning the intent behind your accusation. Now stop this and get back to the subject in hand..... Where are the bloody flags???? Can i put on my German ones yet

My flag is up all year, George cross, sometimes from the club shop with the badge in the middle when I can remember to get them, ( get through 5 flags a year, windy spot!) I fly a flag with st George on it in April, and the poppy flag in November. Half a dozen in the village all year round as well. Guess I should take it down for the works to be "different"!

Provocation is genuinely not my motive. I'm interested as to why that particular poster chose to mention another person's ethnicity. I personally didn't think that it was relevant. The poster could easily have left it out of their sentence and it would still have made perfect sense but they chose to mention it. For the third time, I'll ask why do this? If someone could please give a reasonable answer, or contribute constructively to the discussion, then this will be most welcome. Can't believe I'm responding to something so pathetic but at a guess, he mentioned 'Asian' because earlier in the thread somebody said that flying the English flag was somehow deemed 'racist' and that Asians and other minorities would take offence (which is a load of bollocks in itself). In a world where we are told that foreigners don't integrate or want to integrate into British society, the poster was pointing out that an Asian taxi driver was proudly flying an English flag. Don't know if that's how it was meant but that's how I read it. I think that is an entirely reasonable and well considered response.

Found the flags!. (well quite a few). Plastered all over the outside of a house in Kidsgrove. Very impressive as well. Right smack bang in the centre of all the St George splendour is another flag with the letters PV emblazoned on it. The guy is clearly trying.

I think people are just sick and tired of getting behind them to be let down.
I used to get so excited for these tournaments, but you see the performances the players put in and they clearly don't give a fuck. Why should we?
I say this, but around 6 o clock on Saturday I'll start believing again...only to be let down again!

Then turn to our lot and upon a bit of scrutiny cracks start to appear and pre tournament belief begins to evaporate a bit. I'm always wanting them to succeed, but there's this gnawing feeling not far away.

Here's a flag question.
Why at football matches, on cars etc. do we have so many England flags with 'ENGLAND' plastered across the middle?
People know what an England flag looks like. You don't see fans of other nations do this to their flags as far as I'm aware. We appear to be the only nation that willingly scribbles all over its flag.
Don't get me started on ones with 'The Sun' in the corner either.
And to answer the OP, I think it's due to an increasing antipathy towards the England football team rather than any organised pinko-lefty-dogoody thing to do with racism as others have implied.
