Stoke City could be about to buy Icelandic again after checking out Racing Genk left-back Indridi Sigurdsson over the weekend. Sigurdsson, who is no relation to Stoke's Hannes, was one of a clutch of players watched by manager Johan Boskamp during a scouting trip to Belgium and Holland over the past couple of days.
He watched the Icelander at the start of the season, but decided against a move before the end-of-August transfer deadline.
But a left-back remains his top priority and he has decided to give the Icelandic international a second look ahead of the January transfer window.
Boskamp's other targets over the weekend included what he is calling "my second Bangoura" as he seeks a cluster of new signings for the second half of the season.
He has also told the likes of Toddi Gudjonsson and Anthony Pulis they can leave, while John Halls (transfer listed) and Bruce Dyer (on loan at Millwall) are other possible departures at the turn of the year.
Boskamp was accompanied on his scouting mission by chief scout Kevin Reeves and veteran defender Gerry Taggart.
Taggart's inclusion on the manager's brains trust represents a further step towards his possible full-time promotion to the management team.
Boskamp and his colleagues left for the lowlands of Europe on Saturday morning after seeing Stoke rise to sixth in the table on the back of Friday's thrilling 3-2 win against Leicester.
Paul Gallagher and Mama Sidibe left the contest evenly poised until Sammy Bangoura netted for a sixth game running to make it eight goals in 10 Stoke appearances.
But Stoke's scoring sensation looks set to miss Saturday's trip to Luton after stacking up his fifth booking for over celebrating his winner.

Boskamp has already said before that Sigurdsson isnt good enough for Stoke but he might think differently now having longer to asses the squad and also what the Championship is like as well. Even if Sigurdsson isnt the standard that we need, i think he would be worth signing up untill the end of the season because at least he is a natural left back and thats what we could really do with, he must surely be a better option than Broomes? Boskamp's other targets over the weekend included what he is calling "my second Bangoura" Now that sounds promising!!! i wonder who it could be?

Strangely enough, Dickinson looked good in the first half against ManU Acedemy side the other week at CENTRE BACK.
But when switched to left back at half time he had a nightmare and two of ManU's three goals in the second half came when Dicko was skinned by his winger.

About time too. Just FOCUS ON FULLBACKS when you visit em lowlands. Keep the opposition goals out! Plus a temporary Sammy replacement would be ace. ..... ahhh got me fix. Withdrawal is a bind.

Woah Fornside - you're first team player already. What position you play? Hopefully its left back, you are always giving attention Now I gotta get my shooting boots on and look to get in the first eleven. This temp board is cute.
