"We've got Payet" but I doubt he'll be a WHU player for much longer mores the pity.

Payet really is the sort of player that keeps me interested in the modern game (just) He was superb from start to finish. A brilliant goal and an assist from a proper bit of class.

Dimitri Payet is absolutely insane.
That finish was more disgusting and depraved than my search history.

Payet's 30 in March.
What an odd career for someone of his obvious talent to flounder in the wilderness of Ligue 1 for almost all his career, then for his big move to be to West Ham.
Be interesting to see where he starts next season if he has a couple more good games.

I can't see this french team gelling too well, they will need a lot of moments of brilliance from Payet and Pogba to win this tournament. Their full backs and centre backs look poor

Dimitri Payet is absolutely insane. That finish was more disgusting and depraved than my search history. Bilic wanted him at WHU and had tried to get for Betsikas previously but getting him for £10.7m was down to the Daves. That finish was with his weak left foot BTW. I hoped he would have a good tournament and it should be remembered he couldn't get in the French team before he came to WHU. Unfortunately for West Ham with a goal and an assist in the opening game for the hosts he's turned out to be one of the best midfielders on the planet and even at 29 now expect one of the uber clubs to come in for him. Whilst I'd be distraught if he left, I could fully understand why a player of his class would want to play for a CL club. If he goes in the summer it will take silly money and that big new contract he signed a couple of months back would at least see us make a few quid.

Payet is a simply outstanding player and a joy to watch.
Players like him are why we watch the game.
Awesome.

I can't recommend enough that anybody who hasn't watched the BBC's documentaries on Euro 96 and the 1966 World Cup should drop everything and watch them right away.

Great thing about the Payet goal is the moment. His team (and nation) getting frustrated he produced. A quality player making the difference. England players take note. We have some quality in the camp let's see them use their talent.

The notion that somehow a terrible mistake has been made in choosing Wilshere over Drinkwater is utterly baffling. Wilshere has won man of the match awards in six of his last seven games for England. Whether we agree with each choice for MOM is irrelevant. It is a clear indication that he has made a significant contribution. He is a player who can bring a bit of extra flair to the side. I understand he has had most of the season out through injury but I doubt he has forgotten how to play football and is clearly now fully free from injury and will arguably benefit in some ways in not having just finished a long hard season. Drinkwater has had a very good season in Leicester's wonderful campaign. He has done his job exceptionally well which was as what Eric Cantona once famously described as the "water carrier". He has not featured for England previously in a fairly anonymous career pre this term and failed to do anything particularly eye catching in the few appearances he has made recently. His role in the team will be most likely filled by Henderson who is quite frankly a better player and internationally seasoned. Wilshere is a player most open minded Stokies would be excited to see in a Stoke shirt. Drinkwater would hardly cause a ripple if we signed him. Wilshere is a player capable and proven able to win games for England. Drinkwater would have a role in making sure we were solid and has no proof on his CV that he is an player able to transition from a decent Premier League player to an International. What is the argument? Mark shows how good his football knowledge is. In other words non-exsistent.

This was Mark's last contribution to this site.
Can we please remind him of it as we go out of the tournament-or remind me as we win the bugger.
Cheers.
