Would love Arnie to stay, but if he does, he needs to stop sulking and just get on with it if things are not going his way during the game.

I look at it this way; If I was at a job where for whatever reason it was fixed term contracts which were renewed dependent on your contract length in a job market where there are other suitors in the market able to offer more money, more success better "legacy" at the stage where there decision was to renew I would definitely be looking at other offers on the table, especially considering there is a showcase event within the next 2 weeks. I am the stand out performer in the company, I love the company, however unlike the companies supporters the only loyalties lie in that I have been able to rekindle a career at that company. This alone would not see me bite at the first few offers that were put on the table. I'd wait, check out the offers within the market which may come my way, use my status within the company to demand more and see if they are matched, to a point where a short period after the showcase I am in a position with potentially multiple offers to decide which is the best for me, is it worth the gamble at another company to switch for their offer considering it is a different situation there or stick with what I know and a company that does indeed love me for the chance of building something, not guaranteeing greater success. Marko has the biggest decision of his life coming up, and personally I wish him all the best in whatever he decides, I just hope he chooses to stick with our wonderful club! Excellent, well put. Better than my attempt earlier in the thread at trying to say that.

I concede your point I still think he will leave Now we're getting somewhere. I THINK all his eggs are in the euros basket. If he bombs, he'll stay. in which case I hope he succeeds

You would hope Tony 'fucking' Scholes will have laid the law down to Marko and his agent.
Something like Marko, we want you to stay and here is an improved contract but you can't mess us around - you have until such and such date to tell us as we have to move on. We won't let you see out your contract and go for nothing.

I hope he does stay... We don't know for sure what his intentions may be... It could be that he's been advised to wait out by his advisors. Stoke may have been told the same to garner what the interest is too. Much like Werrington says... It's a market.
I too have been offered roles at better pay with a larger remit, but I do enjoy where I am at the moment and have taken time out to consider the other role... I'll be making my decision later this summer as I know they are prepared to wait for my decision and they have accepted it.
I have to think about where I want to be in a few years because I know that I'm at a stage of my career where I could progress with this company but it depends on how the company performs or go to a larger company where my career path is not yet known... Arnie is the same, if he signs his extension this could be last opportunity he has for getting into a "big" stage (Europa or champions league).... Perhaps he too is waiting to see what Stoke do in the market to set out what their intent is for progress
Important decisions and ones not to taken lightly.

Why would he waste a year? He's not Messi where he could have his pick of clubs any time. He could have a terrible season and his stock would be right down? Now is his time to maximise his earning potential. It's in no one's interest to fanny around.

Well surely he would of signed when pieters did instead of stalling? I agree with shaz. If he wanted to stay he probably would already have a contract length of 4 years Fuck me how many more times....he's not stalling Do you think Pieters agreed in a few minutes ? This MB drives me insane at times. How do you know he's not stalling? In fact he quite clearly is in one way or another and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. We'd all do the same in his position. Because it would either get us more money at Stoke or a move to a better club or more money at another similar sized club. The issue is imo having an issue with that. Look after number one and that's all he is trying to do.

If I was him I'd be seeing how my Euros go, he's in the shop window. The form he has been in this season he'd be daft to sign before. Chances are though they won't get very far so he's got to be bang on it from the off to make an impression. If this release clause is in his contract i'll be surprised if nobody trys to activate it

All I know is that if Marko signs for us again he'd better start the season on fire or some heads on here might explode.
