That's what you take from tonight? Its one of the things I take from tonight for sure. He should take one look at the opposition (powerful super fit athletes) and be absolutely ashamed of himself. I was embarrassed for him as he waddled onto the pitch. He's a disgrace to his profession. Just what the fuck is he doing in between training?

That's what you take from tonight? Yes problem? There's a whole thread on tonight's performance. His weight is wrong, no footballer should be the size of him. Shaq is not far behind , compare his physique to the player who was marking him tonight

Yeh - let's have a go at the bloke hasn't played for god knows how long who scored one of the best goals ever seen in a Stoke shirt in the wake of an appalling defeat that was already a lost cause before he came on FUCK OFF...... Do you not think he should be fit then, or doesn't that matter when the game is lost? Not commenting on his fitness pal - just the pathetic attempt by the OP to discredit a player who got injured and hasn't had a lot of opportunity since in the wake of a hapless performance, where his fitness was neither here nor there in the overall context of the lame defeat.....

Fuck me after that shambles I can't believe there is a 2 page thread on this topic of all the other things wrong in our team. At least whenever Charlie steps on the pitch he looks like he has pride and at least gives a shit unlike some of our lightweight foreign so called flair players who only decide to turn up once every 3 or 4 games. He is old school maybe suited better to a different era but he is direct and always wants to make something happen rather than sideways, sideways, sideways.
When Charlie does leave people should look back fondly on his time at stoke, the 2 goals for our first win against the shit in nearly 20 years which should see him as hero status to true stokies. Just remember many vital 1-0 wins in pulis last season when the goalscorer was Charlie Adam at a time of immense personal heartbreak for him, he still performed and showed pride.

You are right mate, It wasn't his fault and the game was well lost before he came on. He did look a lot overweight and I can't for the life of me see the reasoning by bringing him on

I'm quicker than him and I'm 55 I'd pay to see that. Well I'm 54 and I ran a 44.20 10k last week so it shouldn't be too hard, I'm not being paid £40k a week to keep myself fit, when I saw him come on it was embarrassing to me for us as a club, shocking that the management can let it get like that and actually pick him in the squad.

He looked so unfit tonight! If he had played for a pub team nobody would have thought it was the wrong team! ![B-|](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/GW5u7F6ZsL7YqNjCbXMk.gif) He always looks unfit, yet how many minutes did he play in the Cup against Chelsea? Just back from injury, thrown on for Whelan, what do people expect? He did at least have a go at goal tonight. I expect professional players at this level to look after themselves. There is no excuse to not do that as a professional footballer. Yes, he always looks like he carries a few pounds too much, but yesterday it was easy to see that the few pounds had become some too many! I also thought Shaq looked a tad unfit, and he certainly played like he was too! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

I think Adam tends to put on weight and then loses it with games. Instead, he's put on weight, but hasn't had the games to lose and looked all over the place last night. That said, in the few minutes he was on the pitch, he seemed to do more than the entire team for 80+ minutes before him.

Symptomatic of our pedestrian football compared to the all action Spurs team. He is not what we need going forward and surely must be off come to summer, if anyone will have him - Rangers maybe after promotion? He can saunter around in games against Kilmarnock and Inverness CT and eat as many deep fried Mars bars as he wants!
I agree with those above about it being an obligation to be fit and in shape (no, round is not a shape in this instance!) as a footballer! I work long hours, but got up early this morning to get in a HIIT work out before heading to the office, I regularly hit the gym during my lunch hour and I am damned fit for a bloke in his mid-40s. It is his job, he is being paid a load of money to be fit enough for top level football. It is disgraceful that he came on and waddled around the pitch like a pub league player!

Baffles me when players like Ollie Shenton - fit and up and coming; Can't even get a look in because an unfit, overweight player is on the bench.

Durham slating him and Shawcross and the club at the minute I don't think Shawcross deserves any stick at all. Not remotely fit enough to be playing and should be benched for the rest of the season imo. Keep him there as a backup only. We'd all rather see him ready for next season, instead of broken from this one.

Durham slating him and Shawcross and the club at the minute Who the hell is Durham to comment! We don't need to take any notice of gobshites like him do we. We have a very unsettled side, we were missing, Butland, Johnson, Pieters, And Walters. We had players who were returning from injury. At least Charlie has some guts. Play him against the Mancs and at least he won't fold up / go missing like some of our skilful pretty boys.
