Has a finer country singer ever stepped on a stage? It's a rhetorical question, the answer is 'no'!
Are we rollin' down hill like a snowball headed for hell With no kind of chance for the flag or the Liberty Bell

These are great, thank you I first heard of them about 6 years ago and I haven't heard a song of theirs that I haven't liked since. I'd recommend their album "The Whippoorwill" - superb. They've just released a new (their eighth) album "You Hear Georgia" which is just as good as all the others. They've stayed under the radar and rejected signing with a big label so that they can "do their own thing".

Er, not quite. BJ was the first to have a hit with I Just Can't Help Believing. It was actually written by the legendary songwriting duo Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil (who wrote You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling, We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, Saturday Night At The Movies etc). In my opinion Elvis' version of I Just Can't Help Believing is one of the greatest things ever committed to vinyl- popular music just doesn't get any better than that!

The violin player Amanda Shires , awesome, saw her here in Savannah a couple of times with her husband Jason Isbell

Of course you are correct Chester thank you. I can recall Elvis mentioning BJ Thomas in his introduction before singing the song...as " his song ".....and misinterpreted it. I agree with you about the singing, I think I first heard it in the film ( as I am sure you are aware. " That's the way it is "( I think it was subsequently removed). Am I right in thinking that the only versions available are live...at least they are the only ones I listen to? I think his vocals on these tracks are often equally under appreciated also, imo second to none. Any Day Now, Loving Arms, I'm leaving, Separate Ways, I'll Remember You.

the beat ... to me they were the best of the 2 tone era - consistently good albums and performances - zero fillers!
isn’t that sax solo just perfect?

I first seriously ‘got’ Elvis maybe 25 years ago and then over a period of years collected all his original studio albums on CD. I’ve not really collected his live albums or the endless supply of posthumous releases- frankly there’s just too much of it and I’m not THAT big a fan to devote my life too it! I’m not aware of any official releases of a studio version of I Just Can’t Help Believing- it’s certainly not on any of his original studio albums.
