Decent enough song but I kinda think Taylor and the fella from The National just might have had the Norman F***** Rockwell album playing on the 8-track in the tour bus when they wrote it! I don't do Taylor Swift but I can't see any similarities. I suspect she's done this album because she's feeling a bit more introspective because of the recent several years of aggro. She's employed The National to give her some street cred something Lana Del Rey's got in buckets and spades I was a bit surprised when I clicked on it because I didn't think she'd got a singing voice.

I'm posting this version because I absolutely love the song - it's stunning (and thank god it looks like they're going to keep the recordings simple) but I really, really don't like the over produced video (currently averaging 2 mil views per day) ... whenever are they finally going to learn, that with Lana, everything is simple and simple is everything! It's down to individual taste, I prefer the over production, its what makes her stand out from hundreds of female singer songwriters.

Her over produced videos are what make her stand her out from hundreds of female singer songwriters? Seriously? Her last album is (arguably) the best album of the 21st Century, regardless of gender. She is one of the most incredible song writers (again, regardless of gender) that the pop music genre has ever and will ever produce, honestly mate, it wouldn't matter a single jot if she didn't have any videos at all, in order for her to stand out from the crowd.

very few better albums than Hunky Dory.. My absolute benchmark ... how far away or (indeed with the good ones) how close, is the record I'm currently listening to, to being as good as Hunky Dory, that's the bar. An absolute masterpiece.

Sorry Paul, confusion there, I was referring to the over production of her music not her videos.

I've been listening to this album off the back of your post (never heard of them before) since Christmas, it's an absolute belter and wonderfully recorded to boot! Thanks for the heads up ... Yeah cheers Paul glad you like it. There was a mini glut/wave of interesting releases on Regal records on the back of the Beta Band 'success'... Orange Can didn't seem to release much more than that album as far as I know, I picked that up promo from Vinyl Exchange, pre millennium bluesy/folky electronica tinged rawk.... Brothers in Sound had a similar vibe and obscuro factor... Not sure if you are familiar, on a similar note {and with Stoke connections} the Sunhouse album remains strong {gets regular spins}. Lead singer an adopted Stokey and collaborator with Shane Meadows..} Sadly RIP, that album is a legacy to be proud of if overlooked..... 'Crazy on the Weekend' songs largely inspired by the crazy characters who passed through Tunstall's Highgate probation hostel.... www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8a8cutYP7fqTAkCJW3Ma34jkqURmksgeDidn't know either of these tracks, both soooo good, I've got so much catching up to do, thanks for the steer in the right direction ... I've got Crazy On The Weekend playing all the way through right now.
