I don't think I'd be exaggerating if I said I've listened to this song over a thousand times since it was first released and yet I've listened to it just now and it's blown my brains out like I've just heard it for the first ever time ... I guess that you already know this Paul, knowing your knowledge of the music industry ( I do actually listen to other music, sometimes) Even Bowie was a big Elvis fan. www.theguardian.com/music/2016/jan/21/elvis-presley-david-bowie-produce-record-request-country-star-dwight-yoakamWatch "BOWIE COVERS ELVIS ~ LIVE 2002" on YouTube The Nairobi Times, Bowie drinking milk and blood.

Delaney and Bonnie and Friends. Definitely file under great forgotten act. I'm not particularly familiar with their music but for anyone interested in early 1970's rock music the lists of acts they were associated with makes incredible reading (see past members on the right hand side of their Wiki page): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delaney_%26_BonnieI do know this song though, which was written by Delaney & Bonnie. I'm sorry to say I think the original version is fairly ordinary but was made into a really great pure pop record by the New Seekers. This record is one of my guilty pleasures (hate the phrase). I love the production on the New Seekers version- the acoustic guitars, the slightly country feel, the layered vocals, a nice hint of brass here and there and (twice) a great semi-acappella section with added bongoes! Delaney & Bonnie New Seekers

Delaney & Bonnie New Seekers I think the ‘Friends’ were the backing band on four albums in 1970 including ‘Layla’ and ‘All things must pass’. Incredible musicians. Whisper it, but the New Seekers did one of the best ‘Who’ covers with their Tommy medley. Not many attempt to cover The Who, but their cabaret make over is a guilty pleasure.
