Delta 'Slippin' Out' On rotation at Cheees Towers, fantastic, sadly underrated and ignored outfit. Probably pick the album up for pence. It's barbed genius in my book and just.. mint, from bombastic opener to the stringed thing to close it... Not a lot happening on the tube of U regarding them... A taster or two... but it requires a listen in it's entirety.

.... going to see them in Brisvegas on 7th March. Taking the young fella, his girlfriend & her twin brother. Have to be educated. Took them to see The Charlatans last October which they said they enjoyed. We happened to miss out on Arctic Monkeys tickets

.... going to see them in Brisvegas on 7th March. Taking the young fella, his girlfriend & her twin brother. Have to be educated. Took them to see The Charlatans last October which they said they enjoyed. We happened to miss out on Arctic Monkeys tickets Seen them loads over the years and on their day they can be superb. I've seen them at their worst though and they can sound awful but that was mainly back when they were still caning the class "a's" They are back on top form lately though now there drug ravaged days are behind them, I saw them last in Manchester a couple of years ago and they were brilliant. Hope you all have a great day out

Enjoying the Bodega album a mate dropped off. A bit shouty, rolling bass lines.. a bit Pavement, a bit Bis etc... nice... They're great live, the guitarist is a real talent. Talking heads meets the B-52's. These are good in a similar vein...

There once was an empire chase Known as a great, great game And one of its rooks came from Stoke-on-Trent And Mortimer was his name
An impotent tea-bag spazz Pride of the vicar caste Sent off to Asia Expansion land Determined to be a man
Determined to be a man Determined to be a man Determined to be a man Determined to be a man
He loved a nice sag aloo The long, lazy afternoons But soon he was singing a different tune It went something just like this
A billion flies on a horse's tail The spirit of a late, lame Raj Punjabi's finest, bring me your wine list As the news comes across the air today
Surprised to hear Stoke On Trent name checked. Does anyone know the reference to Mortimer? Anyone?

New project fronted by Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst. Cracking album released the other week, give it a try if you're a fan of either. Conor Oberst, M. Ward & Jeff Tweedy(Wilco) , Ryan Adams (Whiskeytown)all very underrated imo. If you like Conor Oberst give these a listen if you haven’t already done so, I think you’ll like them. I wasn’t even aware of this album will give it a listen. Getting some bad publicity from Phoebe Bridgers and others at the moment.

Still not bowled over by Idles, but I do like that LiveLounge Streets skit, best thing I've seen by them so far.. Maybe I'm succumbing. see Estrons are playing Sugarmill in April, think I'll give them a look.

I'm not claiming that no, maybe he didn't like the way Market 'Drayton' scanned. It fits the story of Clive... In and out of India, start of Indian Empire. Thought it could have been Rudyard K. {apparently conceived in Endon, named after the Lake etc}, and wondered if it referred to a Pottery Magnate's lad... but couldn't be arsed to scan family trees for Mortimers. I think Clive is top candidate mesen. Maybe given the likely time it was written he used 'Stoke-on-Trent' in a Newman & Baddiel way, to emphasise the 'tea bag' campness... Incidentally some kind of anniversary {25 years!} for 'Crooked Rain'.

Never thought of Clive because I'd always associated him with Shropshire in my mind and just assumed someone would have some knowledge of the "Mortimer" family.
Nearer to your neck of the woods I had a nice chat with an old lad from the Brook yesterday over at Tittesworth. Never knew there was a tennis club up the road in Endon, you learn something new every day, as they say. He likes Ego, recommended the Golf club for decent food and said The Sportsman was a proper boozers pub
