Completely forgot about the late, great Freddie Mercury's birthday on Wednesday.
Better late than never.
So many good tunes to choose from.

Spent a pleasant couple of hours musically travelling lost and largely forgotten early Japan. Obvious references to Bowie, Roxy and that, but also apparent that they in turn were extremely influential to Duran, Visage and all that. Mint.
Like a mixture of Cockney Rebel and XTC, with a skanking twist.
A cover which more than stands up allongside the original.
Girls on Film
Still got a lot of time for Sylvian's output.
About to embark oh Stranglers 'Raven' front to back for the first time in decades. Wish me luck. "When I was a vacuum, my friend he was the Raven." Never really understood that.

A few new 'uns for the pop pickers. {New to me anyway.} A mate's going to the Festival *6 at Portmerion, and looking forward to seeing these... Amen Dunes
Domino Record Label, often a marque of Quality, caught these live on a fb feed earlier in the week, good, a bit Pixies. Flasher
Recommended by a friend, playing Manchester soon. Fontaines DC

Great band, I think I know for certain.
This be my favourite Rebel song. Out of many cracking songs I think it would have to be this one. Perfect, perfect lyrics.
Fresh-faced imbeciles laughing at me I've been laughing myself, is that so hard to see ? Do I have to spell each letter out, honestly ? If there's no room for laughter, there's no room for me, for me.

Some great stuff, I love the moody sax and atmos on 'Mirror Freak', a kind of sneering world/industry weariness about it all. And a bit sleazy. I first got into Cockney Rebel, by accident through this track. Loved that in the early eighties, someone told me/I got it into me head, that it was a cover of a Rebel song, so I borrowed a few albums etc. Thought they were great but obviously the 'wrong' band. When I cottoned on it was T.Rex, diving into their albums {rather than hits}, sent me on another marvellous musical pathway. This still tops the T. Rex chart for me. & 'Seagull Woman'.

Did you have a listen to either of the White Denim tracks I put up. I caught them on 6Music and thought T Rex.

Currently light funk/soul hour on the boozerjuke. Mainly Lisa Stanstead. Nice vibe.
