I'm sorry I have got to include Alan Durban, He was Pulis on steroids. His infamous quote was "If you want entertainment go and watch a bunch of clowns", he was probably Pulis's mentor.

A) That wasn't in the Prem and B) We had just had a run of poor results, Durban tried to fix it by playing ultra defensively at Highbury that day as Arsenal were prolific and he sensed another hiding, so his quote should maybe taken with a bit of context I enjoyed his time with us

He brought organisation and structure to a club going nowhere except down. He was exactly the right man at the right time, just as Pulis was years later.

Surely the worst managers are those who take over a decent team and let them decline.
Martinez must be near the top after the work he has done at Wigan and Everton (without Lukaku's goals, Everton would be in serious relegation trouble).
How about Souness at Liverpool?
Wenger deserves a mention for taking over a fantastic team and turning them into a laughing stock.
Who was it took Charlton from mid-table to relegation - Les Reid?
Then there was he of the comedy shorts who took a stable Bolton team to relegation.
A special mention to Martin O'Neill, who does well while at clubs, but as soon as he leaves they seem to collapse into turmoil and decline.

B) Having been a supporter during the Waddington era with league cup semi finals with Leicester in the early sixties and the excitement of watching players like Violet, Mcinroy, Greenoff, Dobing, Hudson etc, plus the great cup runs during 1971/2, it was a bit of a cultural shock to have to watch the somewhat negative tactics employed by Alan Durban's team, whatever the reasons. So excuse me for preferring to support and watch a team with some positive ambition.

You have to put the quote in its proper context though Pete. He was having a strong disagreement with Jimmy Hill in an interview and was basically telling Big Chin to fuck off.
