Been neglecting the groovier stuff, pre-occupied by the spring sun and thoughts of the swinging sixties. Came across this odd soul/funk/prog hybrid from Peter Hammill, Van Der Graaf Generator etc. I was listening to a 'best of..' 'Ophelia' etc. And had forgotten about this. 'Open Your Eyes'.

Really noisy track but I like it ALOT! Reminds me of Curtis Mayfield, but I'm doing a Sunday night drop

Here you go then... a bit of Celtic Soul from Van the Man.
Could have gone in the 60's thread but might be happy here.
Pretty dark subject matter about his feelings of inadequacy, discomfort and guilt in the face of a loved one's illness.
For all that, one of Van's best and well worth sticking with. Danceable of an evening after another disappointing Stoke result.

There is a soul and Motown programme on Radio Stoke on a Saturday night that would probably interest you Duncan. I imagine you can get it on-line after it has been broadcast.
Soul on Trent
Here you go mate. This plays...
Soul on Trent "Back to '67"
Have a look at the contributors links below the player as well. Some ace stuff!
