You learn something new every day, my one regret is not getting into the production side of it more when I was in high school, and with working full time now I haven't really got the time to try and dabble in it again, so I have to find solace amongst filthy tunes. I have loads of, umm, uhhh...ahem 'cracking' FULLY FUNCTIONING "trial" software and VST's you can dabble with just hit me up. I have an FTP and can send large files. :-) I reckon Reason and Ableton fit the bill for you, with a few VST synths on top to get you going. Just need a decent machine with enough RAM. (Windows XP, 7 and higher (64 bit and 32 bit I can provide production software for) I run Windows 7, still. It's the best by far Anyway back to the tunes, Rare french funker from 97/98 I did have a look at Ableton, but I became so bewildered by everything I ended up crying in a puddle of my own excrement on the floor, the last proper, if you can even call it that, software I used was Fruity Loops back in the 4x4, garage, king chav in his 1.2 Corsa days, and even then whatever I made just sounded like a food blender that's been kicked in the bollocks.

Well ableton is quite similar to fruity loops actually. Of all the old sequencers thats prolly closest to Ableton. But obviously MUCH more sophisticated. I have a lot of tutorial DVDs for Reason and Ableton as well bro. I'll put some files up to my FTP over the next bit and let you have a look.

I own the original on vinyl, its from 99 on Seasons recordings. Just remixed a couple years back by shades of grey. I figured you'd like it. The og is sick

Very historical dance.
Moondog on a street corner with a viking helmet and a shaker apparently.

"looking forward to you" is another great one I had no idea this was Canadian, I'm new to this artist. I really liked that track and shared it with you as I thought you'd dig it

if you liked that you'll probably enjoy a lot of Traumprinz. Not strictly house but an amazing sound

If you are conversant with Moondog Skank then Mr. Scruff is worth giving a whirl. Nice to see Herbert getting mentioned on the thread. An interesting dude. Matthew 'Herbert' Herbert, Wishmountain, Dr. Rockit, Herbert, Radio Boy, and him and his big band. A sound collagist and general thinker worth exploring. Not sure about his new song based stuff, but he's certainly an interesting cat with his cut up attitude to Dance. His 'One Pig' thing, the story behind the album, and Paul Morley's Guardian interview are worth checking on youtube. Always walks the tightrope of artifice and pretentiousness, but I don't hold it against him.
