We have gone soft those of us who used to be a bit stupid at times are now older, but it was part of the game to intimidate the away fans and team,we have all gone quite now so the atmosphere is generally crap. Now fans leave with 10min to go because they have to put the tea on,in the old days you would leave to jump on the away fans, how times have changed.

I don't mean to piss on your chips but we are the only club in the prem with a designated away enclosure where away supporters are coached directly in. Away fans on train are given handouts on coming off the station advising them not to go into town but to drink in a designated uni bar or the terrace pub across the road before being safely bussed to the enclosure safely . This doesn't happen anywhere else so I wouldn't get to carried away its just carefully policed,if away fans were to appear in town in numbers a battle would certainly ensue . I think you'll find Swansea bus supporters directly into an enclosure. At the majority of clubs, the away fans area is cordoned off with barriers and searches done, so what's the difference? What we have at Stoke is an area which covers 3 zones, player/staff parking, section of home fans and in the middle is the away fans bus parking. If memory serves, only Swansea offers long term bus parking right next to the stadium - others only drop off. What a shame you interpret that as a negative rather than a positive. Fans are at liberty to leave the enclosure if they wish and I've seen away fans drinking in the Power League and Harvester. Personally, I can't see a problem offering advice for a pre match drink and then bussing fans into the ground, cracking idea imo and I'm sure Stoke fans who use the train would love to meet up for a bevy then get ferried to the stadium. I suggest you walk around the away enclosure before a game, you'll find hundreds of away fans walking to the stadium without any fuss at all. You stay positive fella

You're talking about around the stadium potterglen and I'd agree never many problems right outside the ground a far cry from the Cardiff, Millwall, Sunderland even Qpr games at the Brit, but still can't recall many rival fans drinking in numbers in Stoke town centre last one I can recall was Brum in the Gardeners in 97. Lets hope the shit don't end up in Burslem again zzzz

You stay positive fella Potterglen how lovely that people mix so happily around the ground. I agree its a good thing. The cctv also plays its part there. I see no problem also offering away fans advice my point was and you obviously don't drink their, is the town is a totally different animal. We recently had 20 Chelsea playing up thinking they could bully a couple of Stoke lads and they were soon dealt with. Its a good job the local constabulary do not take your view and just let away fans drink wherever when they come off the train, the outcome I fear would be far different. You stay naive fella ???

Naive? We're talking about 20 Chelsea fans - tools will be tools, but don't suggest it's the norm because it isn't. Enjoy your negativity, I'll stay positive (and naive) about the club and its supporters.

Every club has one off incidents in the town centre. Was just pointing out that we're no worse than any other club in the premier league.

It would only take 1 large group of 'away lads' to drink in the city centre in one of 'your' pubs and play up singing and generally doing what is termed "taking liberties" and the words nice bunch would not be heard or needed

They drank in the Glebe and no one bothered them pre match, after the game they turned up again in their thinking they could get away with singing about Christian Benteke . Then it all kicked off as we all knew it always would ,rights or wrongs thems the facts whether Potterglen thinks otherwise or not in town.

There was a bit of handbags between 3-5 of ours and 3 Palace fans outside the ground, by the Harvester on Saturday after the match- Not much in it, a few punches thrown, and maybe some spitting, before the police broke it up.

Every other club has away fans in their town centre ,surely you realise this as Stoke do it everywhere hit the town centre for drinky poohs. Its the norm for most clubs . Different story at Stoke mind and always will be and I do not know how you change it . Times have changed up by the ground a bit of handbags occasionally but that's the same everywhere. The difference is the mentality of stoke fans in town.

It's not as in your face as it used to be but it will always happen in some shape or form as we both know and anybody who thinks its finished is dreaming, the good thing nowadays is that generally it happens well away from the grounds where the % of women and kids is much higher than back in the 'good old days'

If you go for a drink and don't mouth off, then usually, most fans are happy to have a chat about each others teams? It's when you get fans with a chip on their shoulders and mouth off and it then kicks off? Was it Theodora Roosevelt who said if you come to me with your hand outstretched, I'll shake your hand, if you come to me with your fist clenched, then I will do likewise?
