I say this with all respect to the US as I have family and friends there but if they elect this plum then they really are the biggest lunatic asylum in the world.

He's very clever. In the current climate right wing enough to get elected knowing congress and the senate will only let the moderate stuff through.
All talk at this time.

He's a few pence short of a pound.
Hopefully common sense prevails and the Yanks don't elect him in.

Got to disagree on this salop. Everything he says proves he is in reality pretty thick. People laud him as an entrepreneur and assume he's bright, but his dad built a company and gave it to him.

The USA has this Islam fear at the moment. He is feeding off it.

He really is very bad news for however the official Republican candidate will be. He'll most likely stand as an independent and then split the Republican vote in two. That may be a good thing if you prefer a more liberal minded Democrat in the Whitehouse (which is good for planet earth) even David "Blair-lite" Cameron is being critical of Trump's remarks.
I really hope Bernie Sanders can do it, but even Hilary Clinton is not the end of the world.

Trump had to appeal to the right to win his primaries and the republican nomination. Once he's up against the democrat candidate he has to appeal to the whole of USA
It's a different campaign

Not quite...but he is a straight talking, intelligent sort of bloke. And that is something unique in US politics.

He's similar to Corbyn in that he is trying to remove the lies, deceit and corporate ownership out of North American politics, but i'd say he's more focussed on equality and workers rights in the US. They have a different set of issues over there such as no free healthcare and the meltdown in the middle classes. He's a good guy.

And in any case the USA is very right wing compared to the UK, I would suggest even the Democrats in the USA are to the right of the Conservatives here. This from William F. Buckley on American conservatives gets to the essence of what American conservatives are about and where this idea comes from: Among our convictions: It is the job of centralized government (in peacetime) to protect its citizens' lives, liberty and property. All other activities of government tend to diminish freedom and hamper progress. The growth of government (the dominant social feature of this century) must be fought relentlessly. Think small government, low taxes, limited regulation, and free enterprise with a strong military.

Idiot uneducated redneck racists will applaud it, regular decent folks are puking over it. This. The vast majority of American's want no part of the nonsense that Trump is spouting. He's pandering to his base support of evangelical Christian nuts and thick as fuck redneck bigots who's lives revolve around doomsday prepping and protecting their second amendment right to own more guns than they know what to do with. From the outside, it can seem like this represents the majority of American's due to the fact they they are so vocal on Social Media and hijack any attempt at reasoned debate, but in truth they don't have the numbers to get this fool elected. The Democrats must be thanking their lucky stars for Trump because he's just amplifying the divisions that already exist within the GOP support. If he wins the Republican nomination, Hilary is nailed on for President in 2016.

Cameron aspires to be Tony Blair. It's that simple.

If he wins the Republican nomination, Hilary is nailed on for President in 2016. i really don't think he'll get even a sniff of an official nomination, not a prayer. It's far more likely that Trump will stand against Bush as an independent Republican candidate. If this happens he'll 60/40 split the Republican vote leaving either Hilary Clinton or possibly even Bernie Sanders an easy path into the Whitehouse.
